Vs Leek

I don’t think it’s fair to say that us as fans don’t financially support the team, I give everything I can to Witton, but with a mortgage, raising bills, a social life and a wedding to pay for next summer my finances are some what stretched :frowning: and I know this not anyone having a go but it just seems that every time we question the team that’s the response we get, we lost £3,000 last night which would have been a great help to the club!

It was just a shit day at the office had by all, roll on Saturday

There’s some people who give all they can at this club (financially, volunteering or both) and some who know they could do more. This is replicated in every single club throughout the country.

Every fan that turns up on a home game is helping the club but what I am saying is that if we continue as we are, we will stand still and then go backwards. We need more coming through that gate on a matchday, more sponsoring games or match balls, more drinking in the club or buying a brew. 290 for a home game for a team unbeaten in 8 wasn’t reflective of what this club can achieve.

290 is actually pretty good for witton at home in a cup. Despite the trophy final being the biggest day in our history wittoners don’t do cup games no idea why?! Leek were a good side and that from an average attendance of 204 this season.

Sorry their average attendances are 242.

I don’t know why either! It’s a chance to watch witton.
If I’m not working then I’m there!

We may have had a decent run but we lost a few with our awful preseason and poor start to the season plus maybe the bad press around tuck, for the die hards and I count myself and friends as such season ticket, golden goal half time draw, 200 club, sponsor a race horse, tracies bucket etc we all contibute I could do more eg attend more events but for personal reasons choose not too but will help when I can eg doing the gates and when I retire and get fit would hope to give a lot more time to the club. But as others do I give as much as I can but there is a limit ! most diehards I think do what they can moderate supporters will not do much above the basic entry and floating fans will disappear at the first sign of a bad run and will not be back until you are challenging, RO post is well meant but I fear we have been trying for many years to get more out of the same fans and it is hard because of financial limits on incomes the only other option is alternative income streams and I know it is looked at but for that is where the focus should be, fans through the gate will follow long term success on the pitch -the ongoing viscous circle as RO says if anyone can do/contribute more then great.

I totally agree that people do more than they should, I am always just a call, email, forum, text whatever away and if I am available I will help, the problem is that we are currently at our full potential and the next step to the Conference North is like our Premier League, it’s not lack of ambition I personally believe it’s the reality unless we can get a trusty money man.

Let’s not forget where we were and how far we have come.

Not that many moons ago we had that magical day at Curzon Ashton, no doubt in my mind that we overachieved last season. It would almost have been better if we just missed the playoffs as it has set the bar high!

ANY Witton fan should be a valued fan and hammering on that people should do more can be quite demoralising, win games and they will come!

Talk of “trusted money man” always frustrates me, the “trusted money man” we have had nearly destroyed the club we all hold most dear (and independantly I was told he was a really good man and that we’d be ok with him)!

This club is no different to any other non league or league club. It needs its fan base to survive.

My personal opinion as almost an outsider looking in is that the club is at a crossroads. We need to attract some new blood down and keep them coming back. The buzz around the club for the past two seasons was enough to keep the gates high but as CJ says the preseason seems to have damaged a whole lot more than just a few weeks in the summer.

We’ll keep the new projects going, as who knows, maybe it does stir some interest. The podcasts regularly have over 600 downloads. But we can’t get 600 down to the ground. So there are others out there tapping into what we do, we just need to sell the Witton Albion product a bit wider. As MM says winning games will help that, but even after an unbeaten run of 8 we were still sub 300.

There seems to have been a fair amount of ‘soul searching’ since the Leek game. So, in the spirit of positivity, and just to let Pritch and the team know that i’m sure we all have full support and respect for them, how about listing some of the improvements in the team this season?

Josh and Danny have been outstanding on the flanks, as well as being our top scorers. Josh plays for 90 minutes now, whereas he used to fade a bit in the 2nd half. His free kicks have been tremendous -it’s not his fault they sometime don’t mean we end up winning! Danny is a more complete player this season. Not only has he begun crossing with his right foot, he even scored with it, unless i am mistaken.

Ben and Marc are pretty rock solid, and Marc filled in very well at full back. Coops kicking still gives me a bit of a heart attack, but his shot stopping is excellent.

I’d love to see Dave Walker sign - I think he’s a really clever linking forward who brings others into the game and can also score goals.

If Jonathan breeze can stop turning back towards his own goal when he gets the ball he can be a really good player, he can run all day.

Mr Powell does infuriate me with regarding to his temper and tackling, but he shows moments of real class. His goals against Aston and Ilkeston were top notch.

Gards showed in 10 minutes how much we’ve missed him and he’ll strengthen us going forward.

Ally and Cliff are really solid performers, Nev and Kyle work really hard and chip in with goals.

I can’t mention the entire squad, but they are a really good, loyal bunch in my opinion. If we go back only a few seasons we had players coming and going and I couldn’t remember half their names.

We’re still here, we’re in the Premier division of the Evo-Stik, it ain’t bad , is it??
