1 up at half time.
Andrews screamer from 30 yds according to Simmo on twitter.
Lost 2-1.
Not the start we were looking for.
Very poor! Barwell didn’t look capable of scoring but once they got the cross/shot to make it one all you just new what was coming! Questions need to be asked.
I’m sure the questions are being asked; but what are the answers?
Need to win at Nantwich.
A bit more difficult to break down but 4 5 1 at home to league newcomers !!! we seem low on confidence, sparkle and pace good to see new left full back in place ( cliff mayo from barrow ) looked decent but as others said a lot to do! tuck powell and sheehan will walk back into the side meaning our signings have not been good enough and preseason prep needs to be much sharper next year we look undercooked i think the jargon goes ? or our 11 didnt play enough games and we had a poor batch of trialists who played alot and never looked the part.
I thought we lacked something, confidence perhaps, but we just didn’t play a style or a formation or well enough to gain it. Danny’s wonderful strike to take the lead should have been the spark, change it-get at em-drive home the advantage, that didn’t happen! I was confident with last seasons team we’d be fine, but we haven’t got all of the team, Matty has gone, quite understandably, though I thought Cliff Mayo did absolutely fine on his debut…we also have Tucker and Powell to return…maybe don’t panic, JUST YET!!!
I can understand everybody feeling a bit down, losing our first 3 games of the season, but I am sure Pritch will sort it out. I know he was not happy with having a disjointed pre-season, mainly due to:
a) Players being forced to take their holidays when it suited their full time employers.
b) A player on England tour.
c) Neville Thompson getting injured.
d) Michael Powell being banned for the first 4 games.
e) Loosing Matty Wood in the week before the season started.
f) Marc Joseph being involved with Hull City/Tigers tribute.
New signing Cliff Moyo looks the business, and should blossom. I believe he was tipped to play left back for the England Youth team, but just failed to make it. A certain Josh Glover kept him out of the side.
I got asked the question from several quarters after the match and I couldn’t ever remember us having nil points following the opening 3 games.
No wonder I couldn’t as never in living memory have Witton Albion lost their opening 3 matches. In fact you have to go back to Season 1924-25 when Albion that season lost their opening 5 Cheshire League fixtures, three of which were at home.
The all-time worst was 1920-21, our second season in the Cheshire County League, we lost our opening 8 games that included six league matches.

a poor performance after a decent first half, should have been 3 up at half time. but we will come good with pritch at the helm, don’t forget we have players to come back into the side, which should lift us. also when announcing the teamcould we please not have this done when the players are making thei entrance to the pitch cos the cheers just drown the announcement. also when giving half time scores turn the bloody music off so that we can actually hear the scores. simple.
Just like winning losing can become a habit. We’re in danger of that, barwell aren’t a good side just committed and you have to match that. Absolute worldy from Andrews and thought the new lad at left back looked good. Would also agree we are lacking pace. What punishment is tuck getting from the club? Also will he be making a public apology?
Tuck has served his punishment administered to him by the magistrates no need for the club to take any further action other than to get him fit and in to the team. The club is not in a position to replace his quality, we need him to start repaying the clubs faith put in him by sticking the ball in the onion bag. A public apology would be good but please lets move on and get some much needed points on the board.
Mark said on the podcast he would get the maximum punishment that his contract allows. Just wondering what that was?
According to the Evostik website, we have signed 16 year old Callum Spencer from Chester.
Hopefully tucks punishment is a fine a club suspension would be madness ? cannot see a 16 year old from Chester helping out much just now ! rarely do you see one that can play at this level so young if they can then they are at league clubs doing well but lets hope he can ! The more I think about it we are simply disjointed and without our last 2 seasons Witton style of football eg crisp passing and movement plus aggressive pressing usually lead by Sheehan and ably supported by Powell when he came on board last season platt does not seem to have the same game at all and has little impact since arriving certainly not with olly james who doesnt seem himself either or is also sufferring the issues so imo powell and sheehan in the centre will bring the better out of josh and danny and with tucks enthusiasm and work rate up top we must get better - however im not sure we have a suitable partner for him from out other front 3 strikers who are either not fit or not up to the mark required - wilson I find hard to fathom works hard but drifts wide a lot misses chances and for his size does not get stuck in to defenders but of the 3 he looks the best option to partner tuck so far but we must look for younger hungry striker from the lower level who wants to push on who has a bit of pace about him. see you on monday at Nantwich.
