Witton Albion Academy Team are in action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Warrington Town in an NPL Academy - Joma Division fixture. Witton will be looking to perform in a more positive manner following their opening round thrashing at the hands of Mickleover Sports two weeks ago. Warrington performed well in last season’s competition and certainly have a very strong squad but, Witton showed last season that they have the ability to perform on their day. Kick off at The Winner Recruitment Stadium is 1pm.

Academy side came within 2 minutes of talking all 3 points from Warrington. Only an unfortunate block by a Warrington player who just tried to stop a clearance, deflecting the ball into the net saved the home side from defeat. Albion took the lead from the penalty spot in the second half and then again from a first time shot by Owen Wynne. Warrington applied late pressure to secure a point helped by the ref giving them a corner when the ball went out for a throw in.
