Warrington Town vs Witton Albion.

Easter Bank Holiday brings a local derby as Witton make the short trip to Cheshire neighbours Warrington Town in their penultimate Northern Premier League Premier Division fixture of the season.

Both teams go into the game with different aims and ambitions, as Witton are now in “must win” territory as nothing else will be enough to preserve their premier league status or at least take it into the final day of the season.

Warrington have the play offs in their sights and are currently occupying one of the coveted spots in the table following a 2-0 win at Atherton Collieries on Saturday but have been on an inconsistent run in recent weeks, losing two of their last three home games against Ashton United and Mickleover respectively.

The reverse fixture at the U Lock It Stadium over the festive period, saw Warrington go away with the three points following a comfortable 4-1 win after James Lawrie had given the Albion an early lead.

Witton have shown determined in their last few games, winning three on the run has given them the slightest chance to save themselves and they will need the same again if the run is to continue.

If only this winning run had come a bit sooner but, where there is still hope the players will continue to battle and who knows it just might be enough.

Unavoidably, supporters will have an eye on results elsewhere but the players can’t think about that and they will surely be fully focused on what they have to do and hopefully we can get the right result.

Kick off at Cantilever Park is 3pm.
