Well what are we doing...?

A couple of people were chattng to me on Saturday asking exactly what we are doing over the summer as the club must keep going!

We are already planning for next season, as mentioned at the recent info mtg several higher profile friendlies are lined up, the pitch work will start next week as will ground maintenace shortly afterwards.

We have the Thundersprint using us as their official campsite on the same weekend we have junior games on the Wincham PArk pitch. That will be making full use of the facilitys that weekend!

We still have Runcorn playing matches until this coming Saturday when their season ends.

Over the coming weeks season tickets will be sold, ground boards will be renewed as we look ahead to the forthcoming season whichever league we end up in.

Not the most exciting post, but hopefully proving it didnt all end last Saturday, and we must plough on. Running the club is a 12month event not a 9 month event.

Maybe spare that hour on a Saturday afternoon and pop down to the ground and lend a hand - you’ll be amazed how much is going on over the summer!

There is a long list of jobs to be carried out at the club over the summer, WP requires ongoing work to be prepared better than ever for the next campaign.

The list of jobs and ‘working schedule’ will be posted on this site over the next couple of weeks (once I return from the glittering lights of Nevada).

Be sure there is lots to do, plenty that does not simply require money but your time (which is even more valuable to us). A good 2009/2010 season starts now, lots to do in preparation.

a good informative post neil. thanks.

has anyone got a copy of the list? woudnt mind having a quick look to see if theres anything we could be getting on with or at least gearing up for TA!

I’ll be down again for a Saturday or two. Wouldn’t be a proper summer without cleaning out those dugouts. Post some info on here and we can all make a note.
My suggestion is this; painting the away dressing room bubblegum pink did nothing to impair the opposition - obviously we need to do the same to the home changing room too!

Just another brief update:

Thundersprint fast approaching next weekend, however the day after our own juniors have been using the facilities for 2 days next weekend, (its going to be a busy 3 days at WP!) we are having the pitch done. This should give hopefully ample recovery time through May and June into July where we can then have the best line up of friendlies at Wincham Park for a the last few years.

Dates of which will be announced shortly…

As predicted the thundersprint was a busy one - special credit has to go to Pete “Ethel” Riley for virtually running the event on his own!
Today also saw the final games on WP this season before the preparation for next season begins - working party next Saturday anyone?

Season tickets are now starting to flow in as well - thanks to those who have already sent me their forms back - keep them coming folks!

As Neil said fantastic effort by Pete over the last few days. He’s worked incredibly hard.

Well we are just over half way through the close season now, the ground is really taking shape thanks to the tremendous efforts of the volunteers over the recent weeks.

The club shop and museum have been tieded and the year end stock count done.

Off the field the clubs year end is almost upon us 30th June, after which we will be able to (in time) review the financial figures for the turbulent year just gone.

We are also expecting our prize money shortly, and have just received the fair play monies. season tickets have also matched last seasosns figures which is very encourgaing - proof again people are sticking with the club.

The leagues AGM is also just over a week away when everything is settled and we can then look forward to receiving details of the fixtures soon after including the FA Competition draws…
