Wemberlee! Wemberlee!

20 years ago today we went to Wemberlee!!

I was 15 years old - oh doesn’t time fly!!

Great day out though, despite the result, especially when Lutkie shouldered one in the back of the net!!

“She wore she wore she wore a scarlet ribbon…”

Good memories of the day a coach pulled up outside our house and everyone jumped on (the journey was a long one though) then outside Wembley with all the fans, there was a picture put in the Guardian of my brother and his mates in white Les Frogs jumpers (god they were awful)the caption was headed The Witton Albion Reserve Team (if I remember right), then into Wemberlee I was to far from the pitch and had everyone stood up infront of me to really see the game but I remember everyone going crazy when Lucky Luckie scored, Colchester ruined my 1st trip to Wemberlee, I think i cried on the coach all the way back to Lostock ha ha

Anyway more to the point I WAS THERE one week four days ago at the Tameside Stadium :woohoo:

Even tho we lost it was a wonderful day at Wemberlee, Witton have given me 2 of the best days of my life  plus countless other great memories and friends.

We drove down in a dash due to work, had no money as forgot wallet in the rush…chap at Wem-ber-ley said “Six pounds to park mate” but let us in for nowt, borrowed money for a programe! Still it was a great day but totally surpassed for me by the happenings at Curzon Ashton!!!

Just been down the club to test the dvd on the big screen and it works. Watched the first ten minutes, absolutely superb! I urge all Wittoners to get down to the beer festival for the 3pm screening on Saturday 19th!

Along with a half of the Albion 125 ale…
