First of all i know this is under match reports but im using internet on my phone here so give me a break. Just thought i would lay some ideas out there on ways to improve things and get your feedback.1. This first idea im unsure of so please feel free to shoot me down as i dont know the entrance fees other than adults. But what about Letting under 16s in free! This wil encourage more kids wanting to come in turn bringing their parents to pay full price, not only that helps with a future fan base if they start coming a lot wil want to keep coming when they hit 16. Im only unsure on it cos i dont know how many % of the crowd now are kids and if we run the risk of losing too much money now. A bigger crowd will also help the atmosphere 2.If some players are happy to play for nothing, why not pay them as normal and then have a weekly pot where players can put in whatever they like if at all from their wages towards the budget. 3. I have noticed how quiet it is at home this season as the players walk out. How about an upbeat song on the go as the team walkout to get the players and the fans pumped up. I suggest insomnia by faithless. West brom used this during the great escape. It may not alter things greatly but may be worth a try im happy to go and buy the cd this week and bring it for saturday. Jeff, can we make this happen?
point 3 a good idea danny, runcorn play a tune when their players run out dont know the name of it, (one of these new groups) i think.
wots all this about it being cold at kendal last nite, wernt some of their fans still wearing shorts.
KFC.
Great post Danny.
I’m not sure I am best person to answer all your positive ideas, as I know Neil and Chad, amongst others arranged a great families day at our last home match. Despite the horrendous weather, our average gate was up by 200 on the previous couple of home games…Superb effort!
We also have vouchers to cut out of the local papers for kids to get in free. I’m sure Neil and Chad will expand on current and future initiatives.
The musical entrance is another great idea, such as Everton’s Z Cars tune, which raises the hairs on the back of my neck every time I hear it.
Please bring a CD/Tape on Saturday, and we can pass the idea on to Rob Gregory/Phil Chadwick, our tannoy announcers. Obviously, the final decision is theirs’.
Keep the positive vibes going!
Ha !
Can we now please drop ’ keep the faith’
and adopt
‘Keep the positive vibes going’ ??
:cheer:
yeah there was some crazy guy in shorts last night. couldnt believe it haha. Ok jeff ill find the cd in hmv this week and bring it for Saturday.
FINALLY!!! Glad to see that rather than just moaning, people are trying to put their heads together to make improvements!!
As for songs, surely the obvious choice is Bon Jovi KEEP THE FAITH???
Or George Michael, Faith?
Or D:Ream, Things Can Only Get Better?
Or The Stone Roes, Going Down??? Maybe not THAT one…
never mind all this modern cr#p, wot about,
max bygraves (ling along with max), that should send shivers down the spines of the players.
KFC
Wot about coming out to “No more hero’s any more” The Stranglers i think,
I remeber when things weren’t going right for Peter O’Brien, and I think we conceded 2 late goals to convert a win into defeat at Merthyr Tydfyl.
Peter started signing ‘Things can only get better’, and before you new it, everybody on the bus was jumping up and down and joining in. The coach bounced its way out of the valleys.
MAX BYGRAVES,(ling along with max), that should send shivers down the spines of the players.
KFC
What’s KFC Toneeee Keep F’n Calm
How about Yazz " The Only Way Is Up "
“Simply the Best”, Tina Turner. “Shout”, Lulu, “I saw the Light”, Hank Williams, “Party”, Elvis, “Get over it”, The Eagles. Anyone of them is better than “Silence is Golden” by the Tremeloes!!!
Seriously, anything that gets the crowd and the team hyped up prior to kick off is a good idea.
WHS.
On the junior initatives:
Under 14’s currently get in free with or without a paying adult (although feasibly you are likely to get an adult coming with them)
Saturday was an exercise purely for Witton juniors and a one off although we are looking at more similar events throughout the season,
The junior U14 passes have been given out to over 2000 kids this year covering local clubs, associations and 3 schools.
The vouchers in the paper are for anyone to cut out and gives free U14 admission via the family gate.
I have also on several occasions (like last season) invited teams to be ball boys - response to this has been disapointing this year and hasnt been helped by most out league games after the summer holidays being on Tuesdays!
theres a fair bit there to suggest there is an effort to attract new families to the club on a match day - sadly we havent had any big games which would draw people of their own accord.
