Witton Albion in the community is proud to host a charity fund-raiser in aid of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. On Saturday 22nd November, we will be rolling back the years and partying like its 1999…or 1992 if you prefer, with a 1990s-themed party.
The JDRF fund research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes. They also support campaigns such as Count Me In, which successfully lobbied the Government into funding further research into type 1 diabetes.
Latest figures suggest that the number of people affected by type 1 diabetes is increasing by 4% annually – particularly in children under 5.
As a community-focused club, and one which is especially committed to our younger supporters, we feel that Witton Albion should join the fight in not only helping to raise money for research into type 1 diabetes, but to also raise awareness amongst our junior supporters and their parents.
We hope that as many Wittoners as possible can join us for what we hope will be a fantastic night as we celebrate an era which was one of the most successful in our Club’s history. As the likes of Blur and Oasis climbed the charts, Witton Albion climbed the leagues – winning the HFS Loans League and spending 3 seasons in the Vauxhall Conference, as well as reaching 3 consecutive FA Trophy Semi Finals and of course playing in the final at Wembley in 1992.
Tickets are available in advance from the Witton Albion Club shop priced at only £3 each.
Just a gentle reminder about this charity fundraiser.
The first of what we hope will become regular Witton Albion In The Community events.
The aim is obviously raise some money for a very worthy cause, whilst also raising Witton’s profile within the local community and also raising the profile of Alext Titchiner’s WAITC role (we’ve all seen evidence of the steps he has made with the junior membership cards and he is also starting to make serious inroads into local schools and colleges).
The bonus of course for Witton Albion, is that a full room means plenty of money being made over the bar - and i am sure that would be very welcome to the Club at the present time!
Tickets available from either the Club Shop or Press Box at each home game now, and of course you can also pay on the door.
As mentioned previously, any donations for raffle prizes are gratefully received. Please drop these with myself or Jamie in either the Shop or Press Box.
Thanks to those who have donated raffle prizes, that will ensure that a good amount of money is raised for the charity.
Ticket sales have also gone well, which means it will be a good opportunity for Witton to bring in some much-needed money over the bar after Tuesday/s Trophy exit.
This event is a pay on the door event, so please come along and support the night. Myself, Jamie, Noel, and Titch promise it will be a very entertaining evening!
I know, I’m breaking my promise about not posting on here again, but it is a great cause.
For an auction item, I am willing (if you want it) to donate a 1992 VAUXHALL F.A. TROPHY FINAL COLCHESTER UNITED V WITTON ALBION OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME.
The programme has been signed by the Witton Albion Players & Management.
If you would like to view the item, you can at todays game(if it is on), where you can post a pre-evening bid. I can usually be found in the counting house, next to the tannoy, but please come before half-time, as I get rather busy during the 2nd half.
