Whitby Town vs Witton Albion (FA Trophy First Qualifying Round).

The start of Witton’s Buildbase FA Challenge Trophy campaign sees them travel to familiar surroundings on Saturday afternoon, when they make the long trip to the North Yorkshire coast for the second time this season as they take on Whitby Town in the First Qualifying Round. Witton’s record at Whitby Town is excellent and they will be looking to continue in the same manner following their victory at the end of August. The Seasiders began their league season in good form but had had fallen away in recent weeks before embarking on their present run of only one defeat in their last five games, so will be hoping to progress through to the next round. Witton will be looking to put on the kind of performances which saw them get so close to the FA Cup First Round but they face a difficult test as Whitby always prove to be competitive opponents in whatever competition they play in. They had an excellent result recently when they overcame Mickleover Sports quite convincingly beating them by four goals to nil so Witton will not be taking anything for granted. The game represents Witton’s third successive cup fixture with the prospect of another one to follow depending on Saturday’s outcome. They can provide a distraction in some ways from the league programme but the benefits of progress in non-league 's premier competition also bring prestige and incentives to clubs at our level. Kick off at Turnbull Ground is 3pm.
