Whitby Town Vs Witton Albion

Its quiet on here today (everyone must be in Whitby!)

Big match today gutted i cant be there…3 points would be amazing and what we deserve after Wednesday night.

Got Neil keeping me updated…he told me already that Neil Black hasnt travelled so maybe the new signing will be given a start?

COME ON THE ALBION!!!

Come on Witterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnn.

Neil just text me saying game is called off.

Yep just spoke to Pete Riley. Apparently the conditions are absolutely awful and due to the strength of the wind then presumably it’s deemed dangerous to play.

So looks like it’s a Wednesday night haul up to play the game now.

It’s a real shame! You have to feel sorry for all those supporters who have spent their hard-earned money to get up there only to be let down.

It is probably the right decision though under the circumstances as the conditions might have proved costly to either team.

I agree Wheels, its not cheap to go that far and alot were staying overnight…

the fans that made the trip are a credit to WAFC (and i am told there were alot) seems a bit daft calling it off for wind but im not there so i suppose its hard to comment…

this is from the Whitby forum:

I walked to the ground in the pouring rain, when I got there it had stopped. The wind at the Turnbull, were used to I can only describe the Refs decision as appalling. In fact I CANT SPEAK!!

Full time:

Lairds 2 Matlock 2
Buxton 0 Osset 0
Ferriby 0 Boston 2

Totally gutted that there was no game yesterday. Even more gutted for the fans who travelled.

However, in retrospect,I think it was the right decision. The conditions would have made the game a total lottery. Its the worst wind I have ever seen at a football match, and that includes Barrow versus Witton in 1992, when Joet Palladino was taking goal kicks, and every one was going back over his head for a corner!

Mark mentioned on the way home that for the re-arranged game on Wednesday April 22nd, the team will be travelling by coach. If any fan is planning to go, subject to room on the coach, it will be a free coach to supporters.

You might need a double decker if its free!!! I think there would of been about 70 wittoners there yesterday. We only stayed up there for a couple of hours and came back but everyone who stayed up there probably spent a fortune so will probably take up the offer of a free coach!

Just got back. Gutted there was no game but great weekend still. I’ll get on the coach Jeff defo if theres room mate. Can’t afford to drive back there again for a while

I spoke to Mark today at the charity match, and he concurred that we may need to take a double decker. The decision will be made nearer the time, but please let Peter Riley know if you definitely plan to travel on the team coach.

Peter is putting the coach firm on standby just in case we do need the double decker.

I expect we would be leaving about 3:00pm and returning about 2:00am

What a magnificent gesture which shows the strength of the bond that exists between the club and the fans. I won’t be available to travel; it doesn’t stop me applauding this offer.

Just want to say thanks to everyone for a great weekend. The game may not have been on but it didn’t stop us having a fantastic time.
