Didn’t travel to the game on Saturday but very pleasing result, lets hope this is the turning point and we go on now and get ourselves in the playoffs. Agree with the views that another striker would be helpful, some massive games coming up so could do with another striker in the ranks at this end of the season.
Quite right noone should be kicking off on here ,The management team are doing a first class job , just have a look and chat with the players after a match, most will have a chat with you about the game . , everyone of them has given 100% and some ,Where do you get this at any other club? Steve Foster Shaun Tuck running putting an enourmous work rate in. watch them off the ball ,actually watch what they do. ALL the squad are putting in a shift .and for those who wernt there , you should have seen the reactions of the players of those last two goals on Saturday . They did that for the club and all supporters . All support should be positive and 100% and nothing less at this moment and in my opinion they deserve alot more from this sleepy town
I think many of us were drunk in the club after Saturday’s game (drinking from 11am by the sea after drinking all Friday night will do that  ) but we all spoke to the players who looked delighted. The club was packed with happy Wittoners, so when the players have travelled all the way across country in the 7th tier to see that must be great! Not sure we were making sense but they were quite happy to indulge us!
Pretty sure there is a coach running to Matlock on Saturday at 12.30 from Memorial Hall, so lets get out again en masse, get it filled and roar the players on to another victory, and get some momentum for the rest of the season B)
A good result on Saturday. The first win I have seen this season since our opening win against Blyth.
Thought we could have had a couple of goals in the first half, Josh Hancock’s free kick hitting the bar and then Joe Shaw somehow not able to put the rebound away before Whitby cleared it for a corner. Anthony Sheehan had a fantastic flying volley saved from the resulting flag kick. Steve Foster should have scored just before half time, only managing to shoot at the keeper’s legs after bustling past a defender.
Second half started brightly when Shaw played a ball over the top for Foster who lobbed the on-rushing keeper. I was very pleased to see Danny Andrews following the ball in just to make sure it was a goal. There are a lot of players around who would have just stood and watched.
I felt we were unlucky to concede, based on how the game had been going. A corner yet again not cleared properly and we paid the price. This only made the team more desperate to score again.
Following a period of pressure, a Whitby defender failed to clear the ball, spooning it from the left side of the box to the right, rather than up field. Andrews collected the bouncing ball in the penalty area, held off the defender, exchanged passes with Foster then shot low past the keeper into the bottom corner. The reaction of the players showed how much it meant to them.
The icing on the cake came when Shaun Tuck won a header against the defender on the half way line, got to his own header first and ran towards the box. As the keeper came out Tuck delayed just long enough to make sure the ball was under control before lashing it past him to seal the win. The delight on his face shows just how much he is enjoying his time at the club.
Overall, I don’t think anyone had a poor game. Every time I have seen Foster play I have been impressed. I have never been a fan of his, but he is clearly an important part of this team. He never stopped running all day, and took his goal well. Shaw played well, and I would say he justified being awarded MotM by the Whitby match sponsors.
All in all, a good day.
Good three points gained. The pitch was dreadful but with all the bad weather at least it was playable. Great reception for the players after the game in the club house. Cracking weekend, didn’t want to leave. Good memories SBL
