Winsford United v FC United (Wed 31st August 2005)

??? I understand that there’s a thread on the Vics forum suggesting that the forthcoming Winsford United v FC United (of Manchester) NWCFL Div Two game may have to be switched from Barton Stadium to somewhere more suitable as the ground there isn’t considered capable of coping with the expected four figure attendance.

According to the thread, Vics have been asked if they would allow the game to take place at their new stadium, in order to allow Winsford to keep the game "local".

(Apparently, Crewe Alexandra’s Gresty Road stadium was also being considered as an alternative venue).

Now the throw-away comment at the bottom of the posting was that "Wincham Park wasn’t considered suitable to cope with the expected attendance. "

Does anyone know anything about this, or is this a typical Vics wind-up?

Surely Wincham Park could easily cope with a four-figure gate (and a share of the gate money as payment for hiring the ground would no doubt come in most useful).
1. I see that the above game is indeed going to be taking place at Victoria Stadium.

http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/news/story.php?story_id=55<br><br>P.S. With a 1,500+ crowd expected, any chance of "assisting" our former tenants (and making a bit of money for the Albion!) by hiring our place as "Official" Overflow car park at (say) ?2.50 a car.

That would be car park with bar facilities of course  8)

SERIOUSLY,

WE SHOULD MAN THE CAR PARK AS THEY WILL USE IT IF ITS AVAILABLE FREE OF CHARGE ?.

The only good news is that Vics themselves won’t make a penny out of it!! As they themselves are also merely tenants!

It may be the 1st time that Mr Conman has made any money!

How on earth are FC United going to be able to compete in their legue and progress if no team are allowed to host their games? how many teams in the league they are in are capable of holding several thousand?
