WHS.

Last update on FB was over an hour ago 1-0 up Nathan Southern must be nearly over now?

Won 1-0.

Playing what I think will be pretty close to the first 11 come the opening game of the season in the first half we battled well on a very poor pitch against a pretty decent Winsford side who had won their last 2 friendlies against higher league opposition, not the prettiest of games and after half time a few changes made it a bit patchy, but on the whole another satisfying game and a mood of optismism in the bar afterwards.

I know that the pitch didn’t help but I must say that I wasn’t overly impressed with the game. Apart from the move which led to the goal I didn’t see a classy performance from either side. Winsford battled well and probably deserved a draw in truth. MOM for me Ben Harrison

Agreed SBD hard working yes, quality not really, however pitch was very poor, so would like to see a bit more against runcorn, i suppose we have to remember we have lost a fair bit of quality eg maguire, macca, kierney, botham, kinsey etc so it will be hard to replace those with our budget, not overly optimistic at this stage but its early days, back 5 look fine, not convinced in front of them.

Wasn’t there last night - but have to say anyone who goes to a game at the Barton Stadium expecting to see good football is hoping against hope - Ive probably been 20 plus times over the years and can’t remember seeing a good passing game! The standard of the pitch and proximity of the track are awful from a playing point of view, and the remoteness from a spectator perspective never seems to engage you in the action. On the plus side you were always able to have a pint while watching the game!

Up the Albs!

At the end of the day it was what it was. A game on a poor pitch played at 3/4 pace and committment by both teams.
It is 90 minutes closer for the management team to know the strengths and weaknesses and it is hoped they saw where both areas were.
Personally I think we have too many little 'uns.

I don’t like friendlies as a spectator and so many get carried away about a performance or ‘only beating Winsford 1-0’. They only beat FC United 1-0.

GE

GE not too worried about friendly results of course but they do give you a good pointer to the player qualities we have and if that was as close to the start 11 as people think then that worries me a little, my point was have we really replaced the quality that has left with the like or better quality ? I have my view and was interested in what other people thought, and what was your view of the refereeing last night, that centre circle will need replacing now surely ? ha ha

Just as an aside, I watched Winsford beat Newcastle Town on Saturday where a certain Farmer macpherson was pretty shocking in midfield. Booth in for Kearney, Newman in for Kinsey I would say yes they more than capable replacements.

Negativty, negativity and more negativity - glad I went to watch the 20T20 cricket at Weaverham !

Eli,

I have already explained my views on here its not negativity its my views for discussion about all things witton to generate interest, Im fully behind pritch and the club, I will watch them whenever I can home and away but I will always have a view and will put it on the forum when I feel inclined and I am always interested on others views it gives you a balanced view overall - you should try it Eli, and finally crickets good but compared to watching witton no way ?

CJ, you come over as negative.
Perhaps you don’t think you are but parts of your posts are.

Thats the nature of the beast, at Witton and at other clubs. If we produce a fantastic centre forward this season but we have a pretty average right winger I can guarantee the winger will get most mentions on here. People by nature seemed to want to express an opinion about the negative far more than the positive. Good news is no news as the hacks always say.I know CJ is a Witton fan through and through as are most of the people on here and we all get frustrated but it would be nice if we tried and break the mold a little this year and support this very young team not just on the terrace but in every aspect.

I would encourage everyone if you have a negative to write just have a think and see if there is also a possitive to balance it out - I await the first game when we get beat and the line is ‘not a single bloody positive from that’ Lets see shall we. WAFC forever!!

My favourite positive quote? “I thought the team might be rubbish this season, now I’m positive!”
I agree Tongue of Fury, let’s try to be always positive on here, it won’t be easy, this is football we are talking about after all.
WHS.

Havent we got a wondeful young and local team I dont know how we do it on such a low budget, we should win everything before us now, a cracking FA cup run and probably win the FA trophy, Barcelona will be envious of our style of play dont you think, gates will rise in the thousands and the football league beckons for sure, we will have difficulty holding onto all our wondeful young players the scouts will be flocking to Wincham Park - Life is so wonderful

Maybe I will just stop posting It seems to upset so many delicate people on here

Sarcasm is almost as bad as negativity. Keep posting, they used to hate me, still do probably, but we ae ALL Wittoners and entitled to our views. Actually, you seem to have got some stuff right, it is a young team and may well be going somewhere.
WHS.

Well one thing is true…the scouts are starting to hover round us.

TT yes and its probably for Matt Woods whos rapidly improving or Ben Harrison bags of potential but may need a bit more beef on him to go into league football, and both were here last year ! I have not seen anything else from anyone that would lead me to suspect they could go much higher to be honest, but of course I may be wrong but ill back my judgement, anyway thats enough from me, Onwards and upwards WAFC
