Last season Witton played their best team in these stupid cup games and all they got was injury problems, so much so that in the play off game against Telford not one of Witton’s regular mid-field players played. It was a bad mistake Mr. Vince made last season for all you died in the wool true Wittoners. I applaud Mr. Vince for accepting it was a mistake last season to play his best team in non important cup ties and for rectifying that mistake this season. I wish the club and its great supporters well for the rest of the season and sincerely hope that it ends with a championship trophy.
WHS.
Just to correct the point WHS.
Jim’s hands were tied last year because the Reserves were also entered into the Mid Cheshire Senior Cup and after they played against Runcorn all the players became cup tied leaving us with no option but to play the majority of 1st team players.
The option as I stated earlier was not to enter the competition or as V*cs did withdraw.
I can’t really comment as I missed the game but going 3 1 up and losing looks bad and it we did have a 1st team squad defence out there apart from the goalie to defend the lead. I think some players are tired and there is a long way to go to win the league. This is a bit worrying and I hope its not dented our confidence as 3 points are needed against a "form" team on Saturday.Fleetwood are chasing and as we know have more financial clout than we do to invest in reinforcements should any of their players get tired or injured!
God luck to Barry Winsford fan on here. He’s had a bit of sensible banter and wished us all the best. I wish Winsford all the best because they deserve to be in the Unibond and they are not living beyond their means like some other clubs in the vincinity I could mention. Anyway lets hope our lads are "girding up ther loins" for Saturday and hopefully will grind out another 3 points.
A good point about the reserves being in it last season but I do feel like others that the Mid Cheshire cup would be better pre season and would provide interest before the season proper!
I think it has been mentioned elsewhere that there are problems playing these games pre season because the players have to be registered with the club to be able to play in any FA comps and pre season is a time to be looking at trialist and giving as many players as you can a run out. Not sure of the exact rules on registration but I think players have to have been registered for a certain time period beforehand so we could have to have 16 or 17 players signed in July which I would expect Jim to need longer to decide who he wants. What might be a better idea is to enter the reserve team into it and let any first teamers who need a runout play.
Enter the Supporters Team and have done with it!!!
Great shout!
There would not be as many disappointed fans in that case ! ;D ;D ;D
The FA should get their heads out the sand and change the rules so that the competition can be played pre-season and they would probably make more cash out of it.
PS I’m still emBARASsed about Tues night.
Robbo…I thought that was the supporters playing m8…Hi Hi… ;D saving your "real players" for your promotion push ?
