Witton’s Academy team begin their ESPFA campaign on Thursday when they welcome Ossett United in their opening Northern Division fixture.
The team finished bottom of the table last season but with a new influx of students alongside some of the squad from last season, they will be looking to progress and pre season has given the team and coach Martyn Irvine the belief that they can.
The lads completed their pre season preparations on Wednesday with a 4-1 win against Reaseheath College, with goals from Charlie Edwards, Josh Butler and a brace from Dan Williams so they go into the game in confident mood and will want to begin the season in the right way.
The home games are being played at Wincham Park, certainly the first three are and there maybe others but that will be arranged in due course and it gives the students the opportunity to showcase their talents in excellent facilities and to play on a first-class surface.
