After interviews held with two prospective Managers on Thursday last and Sunday [what happened to the weekend] it is with great pleasure that we announce that Nigel Deeley has stepped up a rung to take the reins as Manager of Witton Albion FC.
Nigel has had great support from last season’s playing staff and this has influenced his decision to fill the void left by JV. Nigel will decide shortly who his number two will be.
Mark and myself have had talks also this evening with players Liam Brownhill, Mark Peers and Brian Pritchard who are all delighted with the appointment of Nigel Deeley. Whilst there has been interest in Liam and Mark by other clubs they are aware that they are contracted at Witton and Nigel will be discussing terms with them, and indeed with others now that he is in post.
Finally I would personally like to thank Mark Harris, who has had meetings all day today about Witton including the appointment of a Commercial Director who will be unveiled on Saturday.
See you Thursday. Any questions will be answered then.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish Nigel good luck for the forthcoming season, hopefully he can get us over the line this year. Interesting that the above post says that interviews were held Thursday last when i beleive the board were informed at their meeting on that night that JV was not taking the position.
Also on reading the Cheshire League website i see that the reserve team have been thrown out of the league.
All the best of luck to Nigel! Not my first choice but i can see why hes been given the job. Then again JV. WASNT MY FIRST CHOICE LOL! What do i know ? Nigel has my full backing. Here`s hoping that a great number two can do a great job as the manager.
“Nigel Deeley’s Red and White Army”, has a certain ring to it!
Nige has the respect of the fans and more importantly the players. He has been a huge influence over the way we have played over the last couple of seasons. He will have built on his own vast experience whilst working as JV’s number two and of course he managed the team in Jim’s absence against Frickley, Ashton and Buxton over Christmas (with an important 3 wins).
His coaching experience with the younger players is a huge benefit and his understanding of the game is first class. Nigel was the perfect choice to succeed Jim. We have a loyal, honest, hard working man in charge and I am sure he will get 100% support from the fans and everyone else involved in the club.
Of all the interested candidates we already had the best man for the job!
This is a great appointment and I have full confidence that Nigel can take us forward. He has lots of experience and best of all Nigel Deeley’s Red n White Army has a very nice ring to it:silly:
Excellent news and the logical choice! Will be interesting to see who is number 2 will be. Will certainly give the fans more reason to keep raising money!
Nigel and ?
Nigel and ?
Note to Nige, make sure the name of your assistant fits into the above song!
