Witton Albion Standing Order Idea

Following on from the previous topic, I have been thinking this over and I feel that a Standing Order style donation is the way forward, because a direct debit is people having to give their bank details out or collection of hard cash means somebody having to chase the people, so a standing order is the best foot forward and the power is in yours as a fan, just set it up at your local branch or on your online banking from the comfort of your sofa.

I have had a look at other clubs that run such a scheme similar to this, this one is running at an unbelievable level www.fc-utd.co.uk/m_donate.php

I will obviously need to arrange to sit down with Neil or Mark Harris and discuss this further, but my idea was to open a new bank account in Witton Albion’s Fans Fund name (if they bank with Barclays I can get my mum to sort this) and also to get the go ahead from Mark as he is Chairman. Also with setting up a new account we can then keep a running total and monthly statement for the fans to see how much they are donating, plus where it is being spent to help the football club.

Now for the hard cash part, I am thinking that as a standard we go for ‘the price of a pint a week’ £2.50 a week standing order or if you get paid monthly a £10 standing order, hopefully if we could firstly get 50 fans at £10 a month its £500 which will be a realistic target to achieve at first then hopefully build the fans supporting it to an ambitious 200 mark! I also thought that this doesn’t just have to be fans but players, directors, family members or anyone can join this scheme.

Also a sideline I was thinking (if its possible to see on the bank account names of people donating) to run a monthly draw, so that people can receive a prize (which I will fund myself) of for example a free game ticket, hat, scarf, mug, booze etc.

I have also designed (a very poor) flier if there is anyone who is better at these sort of things then any help would be appreciated, I hopefully have attached it, hopefully this would help to spread the word, also I would ask the website owner to place something on there, also on here, the twitter account, Northwich Guardian and any other avenue to spread the word.

This is all speculation at the moment but this is an idea I have had and hope it is something that like I have said before can help Pritch as the man has given so much to this football club, this would be a thank you to him.

Just to keep you up to speed I plan to see Neil before the Nantwich game on New Years Day and hopefully get the ball rolling on this :slight_smile: I plan to get this up and running mid January.

Would prefer it greatly if the money raised be directed at the wage bill budget not just paying bills or the team will be no better just my opinion - the team has to improve on what we have ?

I spoke to Mark and Neil today, and they are both very grateful for any help you can provide. They are both more than willing to sit down with you to discuss finer details.

Finally :slight_smile: Obviously with the game being OFF today I will have to wait until Saturday to speak to Neil, but I attached (after an hour of trying) a basic flyer, I am hoping someone (Ste :wink: ) can design a more eye catching one :slight_smile:

But to update you once I have sorted the bank account with Neil and the club, I will have this up and running with the support of everybody :slight_smile: hopefully

After several failed attempts to speak to Neil I finally caught up with him at Frickley yesterday, the outcome was that everything is already in place for this idea to take off, he currently has the development fund which has several different schemes paying into it, which then feeds directly into the clubs main account, he is going to forward on the details this week so once I have these it’s just a matter of promoting the ‘Stand by Your Club’ scheme :slight_smile:

Ok, I have received the relevant details from Neil now, so all that I need to do over the next few weeks is get this promoted :slight_smile:

I have knocked together a simple form which you just fill in and take to your local bank branch to setup the standing order (hopefully attached) also I have the flyer which I am going to get some copies printed and distributed locally around Northwich. My plan is (and I will need to speak to Neil) to print loads of a5 forms and put them in the programmes and put some around the ground at home games in the social club, club shop, teahut etc. I am also going to see if its possible to hand some out to the people who don’t use the internet (as where I stand the men near me always say that they never get involved because they don’t have the internet) Also anybody wants a form posting to their house I will hand deliver to any address. Via Twitter, and any other means that I can get this put there!

So just keep your eye out for this coming to a football club near you very soon…

I have just set mine up through online banking. The first payment will be made on the 24th Jan and thereafter on the 24th of every month.
