Witton Rating ***
Match Rating ***

Witton went level on points and goal difference with the Soviets after a hard-fought victory.

The ball control of Andy Chadwick was almost equalled by the ball control of Soviets blonde-haired midfielder…let’s hope Chad’s ‘ego’ hasn’t been too badly brusied…

Witton started the match well, and fashioned plenty of chances. One of these was an early penalty, which Scott Carter (so deadly from the spot 99 times out of 100) managed to blaze wide.

This saw the game become a scrappy, niggly, bad-tempered affair - and it was clear that the referee would need to take action at some point (it was Jamie Blinkhorn’s dad afterall…).

With just 4 minutes left to play, and the score still a frustrating nil nil, Soviets defender committed yet another rash challenge, this time leaving Blinkhorn badly injured and unable to continue. Mr Blinkhorn did not hesitate and issued the guilty party with a yellow card - and a 2 minute spell in the sin bin.

Witton took full advantage of their numerical advantage, and Tom Green racked up his 30th career goal for the Team to win the match with less than 2 minutes left on the clock.

So Witton claim yet another 2 points, and another clean sheet. Hopefully the injury to Jay Blinkhorn will not be sufficient to keep him out of next week’s game, but with Adam Clarke waiting in the wings, and Mike Blundell nearing a return from his own injury lay off, the Witton squad appeards strong enough to cope.

You forgot that when Jay got clattered, Clarkie decided he wanted to fight everyone and went around try to “do” people, Roy Keane style!!!

And he looked rather fetching in those cycling shorts…!!

Robbo, ur only jelous!!!

Or jealous even :stuck_out_tongue:

That didnt take long did it?! At least it gives you something to do at work!!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz…

Like you’d know what work is anyway…get back to babysitting!!
