Witton’s wet and windy weekend of woe continued on Sunday, as the Supporters Team suffered their first defeat of the season.

WItton started poorly, and never really recovered. For the first few minutes Witton could barely get out of their own half, and before they knew it a shot from distance evaded Crouch and Witton were behind. Just moments later and it was 2 - 0, and all but game over.

However Witton responded by putting together their best passing move of the match, and Clarke put his side back into the game.

Shaun Carter and Tom Green were introduced at half time to try and get the second goal that Witton so badly craved. The change appeared to have paid dividends when Clarke put the ball into the net once more, only for the Ref to rule from a distance of 30 yards that the Witton attacker had entered the opponents area before scoring - and therefore the goal was ruled out.

Witton now threw caution to the wind, and were playing an unusual 1-1-3 formation in the hope of getting the all-important equaliser. However, it was heart-break for Witton as HTID broke on the counter and managed to score from a seemingly-impossible angle to go 3 - 1 ahead - prompting mass celebrations from the watching Wisford team on the sidelines.

Witton did score again as Tom Green stroked home his 21st goal for the team to make it 3 - 2, but HTID held out for the remaining minute to record a scarcely-deserved victory.

Albion will now need to claim both points when they meet Winsford in next Sunday’s top-of-the-table encounter.
