Witton Albion Supporters 1-1 KFC (aka Dirty Soviets)

Scorer - Carter (USM)

A fine result against last seasons champions augurs well for this seasons campaign.

It was a battling performance which saw the team enjoy the upper hand, they outmuscled KFC in a performance which was disciplined if not spectacular.

At the back Marshall and Haspell were dominant and saw them find touch with some of their clearances that wouldn’t have been out of place at Twickenham!

In a game of few chances the goal came from courtesy of a fine strike low into the left hand corner from Scott CARTER (Not the 1st time he scored that weekend ;))

Minutes later and the lead could have been doubled but Prew was denied by an excellent piece of goalkeeping.

The KFC equaliser came about in controversial circumstances, the goalscorer having encroached into the area, unseen by the referee but by everyone else on the pitch.

This brought the needle that had been bubbling under in the match to the fore, and a number of players were fortunate to have not been cautioned, including the ‘fat Jonah Lomu’ lookalike who was constantly outfought and outwitted by the chap he was marking ;D.

In an effort to win the game Adam Clarke was introduced and went close with an effort just past the post.

Mike Blundell, Prew and Scott Carter stuck to their tasks superbly throughout the game in midfield and never gave the KFC players any time on the ball.

Team:- Johnson, Marshall, Haspell, Blundell, Carter, Chadwick. Subs used Prew and Clarke. Unused Jones.

MOM - Scott Carter - Great goal and a strong display from the youngster.
