Witton Albion Supporters FC v Northwich United

Sunday 6th May @ 3pm.

Can we beat Northwich to secure our first ever win??

Put my name down Robbo (oooops note to self, first ask the wife…ahhh she’ll be ok) If you need extra players at any time give me a shout.

Will know on Saturday how many players we’ve got hopefully! Always good to get a new face down for a game though.

Yeah it’s at SJDs. Come down by all means, we’re short of someone who can put it in the net!

It’s 6-a-side something or other. 3pm kick off so if it doesn’t clash with your other game then come down.

BREAKING NEWS

I believe the supporters team have just won their first match of the season 5-1!

well done lads!

i play for Northwich Utd. (nt a v. good name i know) and i thought that you have quite a good team. Congrats on your win, we just need a first win of the season now! hehe for anyone who was playing there i was in the Arsenal shirt. you had quite a few good goals and for me this could be a sign of a turning point for you possibly, looking forward to playing you next time!

i think that you are right there, but it is no excuse really for us losing even though our oldest player is 16 years old and our youngest 15 years old you deserved to win, no two ways about it!

Man Of The Match - Thomas Green

With Greg Marshall making a much-anticipated return from injury for this afternoon’s game, spirits were always high in the Witton camp prior to today’s must-win fixture. Despite a no-show from Drew Haspell, Witton were still able to field a strong side, and this showed from the off as Green fired them into a 2nd minute lead after some excellent approach play from Graham Prew.

Seconds later and Blundell somehow got away with a blatant handball. However, this was quickly fogotten as Carter played Blundell in, who in turn laid it off to Green for his second of the game - 2 nil. Now searching for his hat-trick Green was guilty of firing a wasteful shot well wide of the target. Following this, Green attempted to turn provider for Blundell - but the lively midfielder spurned his opportunity when perhaps it would of been easier to score.

Witton didn’t have long to wait though before they made it 3 nil, as Green completed his hat-trick with a neat finish. This unfortunately prompted Witton to allow some complacency to slip into their game, which was punished when Carter tried to play the ball back to Goalkeeper Crouch, but played the ball short leaving the big custodian helpless as Northwich scored with their first opportunity of the match. So at half time, the score was Albion 3, Northwich 1.

Within minutes of the restart Green upped his tally to 4 with a well taken finish as Witton began to stamp some authority on the game. This was soon emphasised when Robinson hit a screamer into the bottom right corner of the goal from some 25 yards out. Prew had weaved through the Northwich defense, but was unable to take it past the last defender. As the ball rolled loose, Robinson pounced and arrowed a shot home to make it 5 - 1. GOAL OF THE SEASON!

With Northwich tiring, there was only one team in this now and Carter soon made it 6. Green then claimed his 5th goal of a productive afternoon to make it 7, before Bludell completed the afternoon’s work by slotting home an 8th.

Cue scenes of jubilation back at the Rowing Club, as Robinson lead his troops into a rendition of 'Eight One To the Albion!".

In his after-match interview, Robinson remarked "We’ve possibly played better this season without winning, but today all of the hard-work has paid off and we’ve claimed a richly deserved victory. You can see the squad getting fitter with each passing week, and some of the football we played today was a joy to watch."

i saw a bit of the game as was practicing ma shooting on the side, looked really good and am really surprised you hadnt won yet , good luck 4 other games
