Witton Rating **
Match Rating ***
Despite their worst performance for some time, Witton still managed to squeeze past a much-improving Vics Supporters team.
Witton often found themselves chasing the ball in the opening exchanges, but despite this it was still the Albion that drew first blood. As has often been the case lately, it was Graham Prew who broke the deadlock with a precision strike.
Unfortunately Witton could not hold onto the lead for long. Robinson was wrong-footed by a bouncing ball, and was then unable to recover against the fleet-footed Northwich striker who raced through to beat Haspell in the Witton goal.
So 1 - 1 at half time.
Witton began the 2nd half as sluggishly as they had ended the first. However, as the half progressed they did manage to fashion more and more opportunities on goal. The Northwich keeper was in inspired form though. Luckily Witton’s hangovers were beginning to clear, and once again it was Scott Carter who won the game for Albion which another controlled finish. Scott now appears to have gotten over his ‘second season syndrome’, which bodes well for the future.
