Witton Rating ****
Match Rating ****

Witton put in a very professional performance to take full advantage of Tangtastics having a man sent off in the first half.

Witton started brightly, with some great interplay between Scott Carter, Green, and Chadwick - but could not break down the packed Tangtastics defense. At one point Marshall managed to break from the back, but could only watch as his shot hit crossbar, keeper, and post - but would not cross the line!

Marshall’s next contribution was in getting a man sent off. As Tangtastics broke quickly, it appeared they would go through on goal - only for Green to foul their attacker. As everyone expected the referee to give a freekick, Marshall went down clutching his face. It appeared that he had been struck by the Tangtastics attacker, and rather than Witton concede a freekick instead they gained a man’s advantage as the red card was brandished!!

In previous games this had seen Witton try to force the game, and end up losing thier haeads. Not this week though, as the returning Shaun Carter made all the difference.

Young Shaun was a constant menace to 5-man Tangs throughout the second half, scoring 2 well-taken goals, and effectively winning the game for Witton.

Although the result didn’t lead to Witton closing the gap on the teams above them, it has at least put some breathing space between them and the chasing pack.

Witton 2 v 0 Tangtastics
Shaun Carter 2

Att 2

Best Moment - The return of Shauny Carter/Marshall’s ‘17 second delay’.
Worst Moment - Watching Raymond FC score 6 in the following game.
