Mike Blundell has displayed impressive form of late, and has also found his touch in front of goal.
Mile-Stones:
Crouch could make his 10th appearance for the Team. Graham Prew is fast closing in on the current goal-scoring record of 20.
Interesting Fact:
Captain Greg Marshall will be missing on Sunday, due to taking part in a Charity Half-Marathon (although they have changed their name to Snickers now, and he should be able to manage a full one…)
MOTM - Mike Blundell (hatrick hero!))
Next Best - Chadwick (Excellent goal right at the death)
Witton Rating ***
Match Rating ****
Despite Witton now stretching their un-beaten run to 10 games, a Mike Blundell hatrick, and Andy Chad ending his 8-match barren spell, the mood in the camp is decidedly sombre this morning following an horrific injury to Graham Prew.
With the game barely 10 minutes old, Prew’s standing foot slipped from under him and he fell to the floor. Not realising the seriousness of the incident Witton played on, with Clarke playing Blundell in for the opener. With the ball dead, it became apparent that Prew was in some discomfort - and he infact left the pitch in an ambulance after the game.
The injury to Prew made the rest of the match something of a non-event. However, this should not detract from an excellent hatrick by Mike Blundell, and a superbly-taken goal from Andy Chadwick. Add to this a hard working cameo from Stu Jones, and it should of been a good day at the office.
The latest news from Prew is that his ankle was dislocated and broken. He is due to have an operation today.
