Witton Albion U21's Development Squad vs FC United of Manchester.

Witton’s U21’s Development Squad complete their league season on Sunday afternoon when they welcome title-chasing FC United of Manchester in a North West U21 Development League Premier Division fixture. The team have really performed very well towards the latter part of the season and the challenge facing them on the final day couldn’t be any harder. Six league wins in a row going into the game and certainly in a position to be able to make more of a game of it than they might have done earlier in the season. The reverse meeting saw FC United of Manchester come out on top with a 3-1 victory in a game played at the Manchester Regional Arena but Witton’s progress aided by having a more settled team has certainly helped and given them a healthy mid table position after finding themselves in the lower half for most of the campaign. Witton will be out to make sure that they finish the season in the same way as the last few weeks and FC United of Manchester will find Witton in determined mood as the look to continue their recent good form. The game is being played at Wincham Park with a 12.30pm kick off.

North West U21’s Development League Premier Division:

Witton Albion U21’s Development Squad 4 FC United of Manchester 4.

Witton’s U21’s completed the season in the North West U21’s Development League Premier Division by stretching their unbeaten run to seven games at Wincham Park on Sunday afternoon.

Following six successive league victories, the final game saw them take on title-chasing FC United of Manchester and Witton got off to a good start when in-form Ryan Malone gave them the lead, only for FC United of Manchester to equalise before the break.

So 1-1 at half time and Witton regained the lead in the second half as Ryan Malone added his second of the afternoon, but FC United drew level for the second time.

Ryan Malone completed his hat-trick to give Witton the advantage once again but yet they still couldn’t shake the opposition off as they restored parity for a third time.

Ellis Wrench put Albion back in front for the fourth time and that looked as if it might give them their seventh successive league win but in the very last minute, FC United were awarded a spot-kick from which they shared the points in a cracking game.

So Witton’s season draws to a close and it certainly has been a season of two parts, the second half of which has propelled them away from the lower end of the table.
