Witton’s U21’s Development Squad are in action on Sunday afternoon when they welcome third-placed Irlam FC in a North West U21 Development League Premier Division fixture. The game is the team’s first competitive game since mid-December when they were beaten 7-2 by Salford City and their first game of the new year presents another tough challenge against an Irlam FC team who are in excellent form and inflicted a heavy defeat on the U21’s earlier in the season. Not having a game for so long can work in different ways for any team either with them being fresh from not playing, or lack of of match fitness and being rusty due to inactivity. One thing is for sure that Witton will be looking to kickstart their campaign as they aim to drag themselves away from the lower end of the table. The game is being played at Moss Farm with a 4pm kick off.
