Witton Albion U21's vs Southport U21's.

Witton’s Under 21’s Development Squad kick off their league campaign on Sunday afternoon when they welcome Southport U21’s in a North West Under 21’s Development League Premier Division fixture. The team has a new structure this season and has joined a new league system, which will certainly test them as there are a lot of strong teams awaiting them. Southport have had a decent pre season and completed their warm-up programme last weekend with a 4-0 win. It’s certainly a tough baptism for the Witton team but they will relish the challenge and will be looking to impose themselves on the game and hopefully, get off to a positive start. The game is being played at Moss Farm on the 3G pitch with a 4pm kick off.

North West U21 Development League Premier Division:

Witton Albion U21’s 3 Southport U21’s 4.

Witton’s U21’s Development Squad were narrowly beaten by double cup winners Southport U21’s in their opening fixture in the NW U21Premier Division at Moss Farm on Sunday afternoon.

Albion put in a very spirited performance but a hat trick from Nasir Friz was in vain, as Southport U21’s edged a seven-goal thriller, with a brace from Daniel Singleton and further goals from Isaac Jones & Luke Welsh gave the visitors the points.

Although we got beat, I think that is a very encouraging result!

Agreed. Southport U21’s are double cup winners from last season and Witton were going into the game with some new faces in the team apparently. So they wouldn’t have had much time to get to know one another. To lose by the odd goal in seven although it’s still a defeat, there are encouraging signs for the future.
