Witton Albion v. AFC Liverpool(Emirates FA Challenge Cup Preliminary Round)

Witton turn their attention to the Emirates FA Challenge Cup on Saturday afternoon when they welcome AFC Liverpool in the Preliminary Round.

The Merseysiders have progressed to this stage after overcoming Abbey Hey in a replay in the Extra Preliminary Round.

Witton secured their place with a comfortable victory over Cheadle Town and will be hopeful of progressing further in the competition.

The midweek trip to Lower Breck turned out to be a disappointment with both the result and the performance but Witton can hopefully put that behind them.

The two clubs have never met before so this will be a new experience and one that Albion will be confident of overcoming.

AFC Liverpool currently sit second from the bottom of the North West Counties Premier Division with one point from their opening four league games, so the game will be a welcome distraction for them.

They currently groundshare with Bootle so any possible replay will need to be confirmed as their landlords are also in cup action away at Sheffield.

Should the game be settled on the day, Witton will host another new team in Darlaston Town on Tuesday night in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture but firstly, they have a job to do and future games will take care of themselves.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.

Well seems like a good win and into the next round so let’s kick on in the league now. UTA

Good win after a poor start, conceding an early goal.

Pick of the goals was Freddy Garbutt’s header (he seemed to hang in mid air before heading home). This followed great work by Aaron Fleming to get his cross in from the goal-line in a situation when most of us thought he would let it go out for a corner.

Pity about the penalty, although it was a decent save to be fair.

Let’s hope for a decent draw in the next round.

Good result against a poor AFC Liverpool side, still don’t think the midfield is right yet.

Upfront Freddy is a real handful for opposition he was my MOM, hope Jones is ok, it looked a bad fall he was having a good game at full back.

Let’s hope we get a decent draw at home :ok_hand:
