Witton Albion v. Ashton United(Reg Hardingham Memorial Trophy)

Witton welcome Premier Division Ashton United to the U Lock It Stadium on Tuesday night in their penultimate game of pre season.

The Tameside club enjoyed an excellent season last time, reaching the play offs before losing our to promoted Worksop Town in the semi finals.

Managed by former Witton midfielder Steve Cunningham, the Robins have assembled a strong squad ahead of the new season and could be up there again this time around.

Witton will look to improve on their recent performances against Runcorn Town and Northwich Victoria respectively although, the first half at the weekend was quite promising.

Although the game is primarily a friendly, the two teams will be contesting the Reg Hardingham Memorial Trophy in honour of a well and truly respected volunteer, who did so much for the club.

Witton are the current holders of the trophy after beating Winsford Town in the inaugural event last season, so will be hoping to retain the trophy for another year.

It will be another tough test for Ben Harrison and his team but one that can look forward to as they face stronger opposition.

Should the game be drawn at the end of normal time, penalties will decide the winners.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 7.45pm.
