Witton return to the U Lock It Stadium on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Northern Premier League new-boys Avro FC in a West Division fixture.
The Oldham-based club have made a good start to life in the league since gaining promotion from the North West Counties Premier Division at the end of last season.
For a big part of their campaign, they appeared to look like Champions only to be caught and overtaken by eventual winners Vauxhall Motors.
They have assembled a squad that has a lot of experience in it as a number of their players have played at Premier Division level in the past.
A draw at highly fancied Bootle in midweek wasn’t the worst result, and Joe Duckworth got on the score sheet for the first time this season following his return from suspension.
Avro suffered their first league defeat of the season in midweek, going down by the only goal at home to City of Liverpool FC so will be looking to get back to winning ways again.
The game is the first-ever meeting between the two teams so it’s a difficult one to predict but, Avro will have a plan to work on whilst Jon Macken’s team will be looking to keep their unbeaten start to the season going.
Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.

Another stiff test as Avro are one place above us but we have to win our home games.
Duckworth back now so be interesting to see the line up, 5 strikers for possibly 3 positions.
Hope Kennerley is fit! Good luck whoever plays. UTA

Witton drop to ninth in the table.
Well that’s 2 points dropped again! Mistakes and missed chances make all the difference in games.
We played most of the football but until Hughes came on, we had no real threat. Missing 4 decent players doesn’t help and with no left back fit, we had to change shape to suit and ultimately it cost us.
Roberts had his best game since joining us which was good, but we need Pope and Hughes up front which I think may work. Still in touch but we have to convert these draws into wins.
We are missing Barrow for that bit of steel in the side to complement our good football. UTA
A mix up at the back cost us the first goal. Team then worked hard to get back into the game. Need to get the ball forward quicker instead of going side to side or backwards constantly.
Must be frustrating for the forwards… Ducky is wasted on the wing, but good to see he can play in different positions. Hughes missed a sitter that on another day he would have scored.
Few players missing due to injury and holidays. No need to panic this early on.
Looking forward to Linnets on Monday.
