Witton Albion v. Avro FC

Witton look to return to winning ways on Tuesday night, but the task facing them couldn’t be any harder when they welcome league leaders Avro FC to the U Lock It Stadium.

The Oldham-based side have begun the season in excellent form and are unbeaten since August under Grant Shenton, their last league defeat coming at home to Shifnal Town.

The former goalkeeper has taken to management in a positive way since his retirement at the end of last season.

The early season form of striker Kyle Hawley, the division’s leading goalscorer has also been a major factor but as a team, they have put together an impressive run of results.

Inconsistency in Witton’s play combined with injuries to key players hasn’t helped but they will look to put that right in the coming weeks.

Saturday’s defeat against Atherton Collieries, probably the best opposition we’ve faced so far this season highlighted certain things that the management team will be working on and hoping to improve in future games.

Last season saw Avro complete the league double over Witton with a 1-0 win at the U Lock It Stadium, whilst the reverse fixture at Avro was more comfortable for them, netting four times without reply.

One familiar face to the Avro supporters is likely to be Albion defender Geffry Ebhote, who moved to the U Lock It Stadium in pre season after an excellent stint with the club.

Three points would be of tremendous benefit for Ben Harrison and the team in their aim to climb the table but, it won’t be easy and Witton will need to perform at their best if they are to get the desired result.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 7.45pm.

Well quite a game, never easy on the nerves Witton are they lol. Avro are a good side well organised balanced and good going forward really like there 11!

We battled very hard to stay in the game and in truth gifted them both goals but they had a lot of chances with Terry my MoM in great form.

Could not quite understand their equaliser, it looked like the Inswinging corner was punched into the net of the back of a defender, hard to tell in a packed area.

Kerr had a pretty good game and of course his at the death volley to save a point was fantastic.

Still lots of work to do for Ben and tough tests at Vauxhall to try us out, and I assume Kerr will return to Winsford!

We really need a permanent move for him or an equivalent type player to give the back four some protection and the return of our injured players. UTA
