FULL TIME

Witton Albion 2-0 Bamber Bridge

An excellent result against a dirty team.
The first half performance was sublime, the second more workmanlike and a bit disjointed by substitutions.
The ref should have booked more BB players.
A good sized crowd (302) for a midweek game.

Magic, I have forcasted a win in this game in Saturday’s programme. Well played lads.
WHS.

a very good performance from witton, especially in the first half. bamber were very dirty and should have had a bag full of cards but the referee was totally abysmal and let things go, instead of showing cards. he just was not up to the job, and got numerous decisions totally wrong. however some of the football witton played was superb and the commitment from ALL the witton players was 110% my man of the match would have to be the whole team. well done pritch and mose for getting things right first time. also thanks to the players for giving us what we want, commitment, effort and good football. this could really be a memorable season for witton, so come on all you witton fans get down to the help for heroes stadium on saturday against lancaster, and cheer the albion on. once a witton fan always a witton fan.

What a sensational first half, every player up for it.Could easily have been 4-0 up at half time.

Half-time was the last thing we needed, because Bamber Bridge were able to re-group.The opposition did very well during the second half and were unlucky not to score. They played very well, just as i would hope Witton would play after a first half onslaught.

A great win, with a very encouraging crowd, against good opposition,a couple of pints and change from twenty quid. What more could you ask for?

Wow first 25 mins was breathtaking Bamber didn’t know what had hit them… so they decided to hit us! but we showed the other side to this team that we can compete with the rough stuff as well as playing the nice stuff. Ref was a bottler, when the linesman turns to you and says ‘that was a straight red’ after the challenge on Matty Woods and the ref did nothing when he saw it was a player that had already been booked I guess that summed him up! Bridge are a good side so this win was massive and Saturday is even bigger, lets hope a few more turn out because this team deserve the support.

PS good luck to the groundstaff in pegging down the net again after Titch nearly put it in Roberts’ scrape yard with his goal!!!

Looks like a very impressive start to the season from Pritch & Co ! I am sure that a pre-season under the the expert coaching of Nigel has contributed quite a lot ( SBL could enlighten us on that maybe ?).
Stern test to come on saturday against Lancaster !

Keep it up !

See u in October !

I believe that all the players rate him very highly. Good 3 points, good first half but a bit “raggie arse rovers” in the second. To be fair BB had a go second half and IN PART were a bit unlucky and also very lucky not to have a a man sent off for an horrendous tackle on Matt Woods. What ever was the referee thinking about??? I think that we should try and play to our strengths more, (playing football on the ground and improving on our range and quality of passing)as all can see we murder teams when the ball is on the ground. SBL

Delightful first half, played fast , direct, flowing it was really good, however the signs were showing that BB were going to stop us by “foul means” and stepped up the kicking of witton players, so to be honest i was more impressed with the clean sheet it shows we also have resilience as well as good football & goals something we have struggled with for years, saturday will be a real test of what we have hope we are at full strength for that one with boothy back in but not sure on my midfield partner for clampitt - james or ennion could argue for either one which is a good thing, like the look of buchan up front could be a threat for Newmans position, if anything a big striker to partner titch would put the icing on the cake so we had a different option but im not complaining great stuff so far -and yes im sure nige deeley is a big plus in training, we really have the best team we could hope for - how many clubs have a mgt team that actually love the club- I would suggest all you latent/missing wittoners out there come down and give it a go again, it really does have a good feeling about the whole place.

Great evening. What I love about this squad that the lads work their socks off right till the final whistle.Brilliant. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

A good game to watch. End-to-end. Great attacking football in the first half and well-worked goals. Very good through ball from Newman for Titch’s goal. BB were always going to have a go in the second half but we weathered everything that was thrown at us.

My MOM was Matt Woolley - has played well in all the games up to now, imo.

In regards to a big striker, don’t forget Pritch had lined Aaron Bowen up.
I think Newman is doing fine, he just needs to find some goals.

Good job Pritch did not get Bowen - we would have had CJ banging on about Toshack and Keegan !

Oh Eli I feel all nostalgic now - still we have got Carroll and Saurez even better ?

Eli who?

Really nice to see Phil Mills down at the game. He has had a few problems with his mothers health, and this was his first gam for 2 years.

Hope to see Phil for todays game also.
