Witton look to continue their charge for the play off places on Saturday afternoon, when they welcome Bootle FC to the U Lock It Stadium in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

Four wins in a row have seen Albion climb to sixth in the table and only outside the top five on goal difference, helped greatly by three successive clean sheets.

The battle for the play off positions is so tight that victory for the visitors would see them overtake Witton in the table but the game is likely to be a tough contest for both teams.

The two games between the two last season were very close games with Bootle edging the game at Vesty Road with 2-1 victory.

The return meeting at the U Lock It Stadium saw another close game ending in a 2-2 draw, with Joe Duckworth and Elliot Rokka on target for Witton after Jack McGowan had given the visitors the lead and Sam Taylor added their second early in the second half.

The meeting at Vesty Road back in August saw the points shared as Joe Duckworth equalised after Andy Scarisbrick had put the Bucks ahead.

Witton will face another big test and they will have to continue their recent form if they are to secure the points.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.

Witton remain in sixth place outside the play offs on goal difference.

Got away to some extent with dropping points, but our goal difference, plus the games in hand that others have, will soon take us out of play-offs contention I fear.

Hope I’m wrong, we’re still in with a shout but will have to have a very good run from now on.
