Witton Albion v. Bradford Park Avenue(Isuzu FA Challenge Trophy First Qualifying Round)

Cup football takes centre stage once again on Saturday afternoon when Witton welcome Bradford Park Avenue in the Isuzu FA Challenge Trophy First Qualifying Round.

The two clubs haven’t met in recent years due to playing in different divisions and cup games have been a rarity.

The FA Trophy has seen the two clubs in opposition on only one occasion and that was back in 1998/99 when the Yorkshire club progressed following a 2-0 win in the Second Round.

Witton suffered a huge blow in midweek with the departure of leading goalscorer Joe Duckworth to Stalybridge Celtic, but that now sees youngsters Wealth Dasilva and Eli Fisher have the opportunities to put themselves in the frame for selection and stake their claim.

Bradford Park Avenue are currently twelfth in the Northern Premier League East Division and have recently changed managers following Danny Whittaker’s return to Macclesfield.

Former Buxton, Matlock Town, Boston United and Shaw Lane boss Craig Elliott has now assumed the position and will be looking for his new charges to progress in both league and cup.

Witton’s form has been good in recent weeks and it will need to continue in that vain if their Trophy campaign is to be extended.

Today’s Attendance: 422.

Witton are in action again on Tuesday night when they welcome Vauxhall Motors in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture with a 7.45pm kick off.

Well a terrible day at the office, far too many changes and very poor performance showing that our squad is weak beyond a decent 11 or 12.

We certainly need a decent striker and without one we will slide down the table. I understand some players had knocks, but to rest so many because it’s a trophy game is not on and it could have been 4-0 at half time and they all came on second half so could have started to give us a chance.
So we have to bounce back Tuesday (is Ben back) and show a performance!

Good job I didn’t post last night and said what I really felt like LOL. UTA
