Witton Albion v. Bury FC

Saturday sees Witton’s biggest game of the season when they welcome Bury FC to the U Lock It Stadium in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

Following the Shakers promotion from the North West Counties Premier Division, they are a lot of people’s tip for a second successive promotion but, are finding out how tough and competitive this league can be.

They have assembled a squad of youth and experience and are handily placed in the table amongst the top teams.

Amongst the Bury squad are two faces familiar to Witton supporters in former Albion midfielders Cameron Fogerty and Josh Gregory whilst Witton striker Joe Duckworth had a brief spell at Gigg Lane.

The Shakers last four away games have seen two wins and two draws including a 2-1 success at Darlaston Town in midweek where they had to come back from a goal down.

Witton’s last four home games have seen one win against Clitheroe, two draws and a defeat so this game can go either way, particularly as Albion have a habit of performing well against the stronger teams.

With a large crowd expected, Witton supporters will be doing their best to cheer the team on in what are likely to be unusual circumstances with such a big travelling support to contend with.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.
