Seven big games stand between Witton and their ambitions to reach the play offs as the season nears its conclusion.

The first of those seven, sees them welcome Chasetown on Saturday afternoon in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

Witton go into the game in seventh place in the table two points outside the coveted fifth spot which would see their season extended.

They will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing result at Hanley Town last weekend, a game that they might have expected to pick something up from but it wasn’t to be.

Chasetown arrive in Cheshire currently in thirteenth place and still with an outside but slender chance of making the play offs.

The Staffordshire club started the season away from their home ground whilst refurbishments were carried out and indeed, Witton were the first opponents for the Scholars when they returned to their home.

A crowd of 1,842 turned up for the Scholars homecoming but goals from Harry Brazel and Matt Lowton couldn’t prevent Witton from going down to defeat by the odd goal in five.

The last time the two clubs were in the same league was back in the 2016/17 season and Albion completed the double over their opponents, winning 4-1 in Staffordshire and then edging the return fixture 3-2 at Wincham Park.

Since beating Kidsgrove Athletic at the beginning of February, the Scholars have only managed one point from a possible fifteen available so they will be looking to address that in this game.

Witton will be looking to put pressure on the teams around them and with other teams having to face each other, three points are crucial to continue their quest.

Witton climb back up to sixth, still in the mix for the play offs.

Out of the play-off spots on goal difference now. The Easter weekend is massively important. On paper we have what should be straightforward victories as we face the two back markers, while City of Liverpool have a couple of tough looking fixtures, at Mossley then home to Bootle. However as I’m sure everyone is only too aware, over the years Witton have so often blown it against teams from the basement, last week at Hanley being the latest occasion.
