Emirates FA Challenge Cup - First Qualifying Round:
Witton Albion 3 City of Liverpool FC 2.
Substitute Eli Fisher gets his first goal in an Albion shirt with an acrobatic finish on 90+4 minutes after his first effort had struck City of Liverpool keeper Calvin Hare in the face.
Quite a stunning game certainly one to remember. On 75 minutes we looked dead and buried hadnât played well and CoL deserved the win!
Didnât seem to be much on the bench to change things but Ben with a bit of fortune made changes and we got the penalty, then all hell broke loose on CoL as we went for it and really good work by Lawrie and DaSilva made a difference to the way we played adding tenacity and urgency.
Plus going 4 3 3 gave us a bit more in midfield and well the last 10 minutes must be the most amazing I can remember just brilliant.
Well done all and lastly, the crowd behind the goal were superb the proverbial 12th man. UTA
Our second goal must be an early contender for gial of the season: a superb ball inside the fullback, great run by Mike Koral to latch onto it and his cross into the box for Reece Daly to fire it home.
Just getting over the stress of that game what a finish as Ben rightly said on his pod cast COL were a better team than us, they had players back from the league game and it showed.
aving said that we gave the second goal away, the changes Ben made were a big influence on how we played from then on. Wittonâs team spirit is second to none, we fought for every ball the last 20 minutes and deserved the win.
Letâs hope we get a decent draw on Monday and push on to another win. Well done all the players for that performance.
