Witton Albion v. City of Liverpool FC(Emirates FA Challenge Cup First Qualifying Round)

Witton look to continue their Emirates FA Challenge Cup run on Saturday afternoon when they welcome City of Liverpool FC in the First Qualifying Round.

The two teams meet for the second time this season following the league game on the opening day with Witton edging a close game with goals from Joe Duckworth and Elliot Rokka.

City of Liverpool have progressed to this stage by beating Merseyside neighbours Bootle 3-1 in the Preliminary Round, whilst Albion needed a replay to overcome South Liverpool.

The two clubs met last season in the Isuzu FA Challenge Trophy with the Purps coming out on top.

They also locked horns in the final game of the campaign with both teams battling It out for a place in the play offs, but the draw proved to be in vain as Witton missed out on goal difference.

Witton have added to their squad during the week with the addition of midfielders Owen German on loan from Altrincham and Owen Cushion signed from Prescot Cables.

Joe Duckworth and Elliot Rokka have hit great form already this season with eleven goals between them, and they will be hoping that continues as Witton seek to progress further.

City of Liverpool are always difficult opponents and we can expect another tough test but Witton’s recent form has been good and they will have to perform to their best if that is to continue.

We are due a run in the FA CUP, so get to the U Lock It stadium in numbers and cheer the team on as that vital 12th man. UTA

Quick chance for CoL revenge over the Albion but here’s hoping the lads keep to form and get us into the next round but FA cup are never straight forward!

Team wise I think we will keep the same side as started last week barring injuries and any FA cup tied issues.

Good luck lads get down and support the Albion. UTA
