Witton Albion v. City of Liverpool FC

Witton look to extend their winning run to four games when they welcome City of Liverpool FC in a re arranged Northern Premier League West Division fixture on Tuesday night.

The two teams are separated by one place and one point in the table but victory would see Albion climb to just outside the play off places.

The original fixture scheduled for earlier in their the campaign was postponed due to City of Liverpool’s involvement in the Isuzu FA Challenge Trophy, a competition that they performed very well in before bowing out to National League Hartlepool United.

The game was rescheduled for December but that fell victim to the weather.

Witton’s Trophy involvement began with a trip to Runcorn Linnets, which they overcame on penalties before the Merseyside club ended it at the Second Qualifying Round.

Both league games between the two teams ended all square last season with Harry McGee equalising for the Albion after John McGrath’s spot-kick had given the Merseysiders the lead at Vesty Road.

The return fixture at the U Lock It Stadium, brought the season to a close and that was a very uneventful goalless draw which saw Witton end the season in sixth place.

There are expected to some familiar faces within the City of Liverpool squad with former Witton winger Jawad Jebrin and experienced striker Danny Mitchley amongst them, so they will be looking to cancel use problems for their former employers.

Witton will be looking to continue their recent good form but they face a tough test and will need to be at their best if they are to prevail.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 7.45pm.

Well the wins and clean sheets keep coming, another battling display and great to see the front 3 create and score the goal but we should have seen more tbh but that will come.

Midfield battled well again as we tried to play football. A bitterly cold night kept some fans away but hope for a good gate Saturday.

Agree on mom Matt Lowton. UTA
