Witton look to make it back to back league home wins on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Clitheroe to the U Lock It Stadium in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

Last weekend’s 5-1 victory over Hanley Town saw Albion climb to thirteenth in the table and made it seven points from three games, courtesy of a four-star performance from striker Connor Hughes.

Visitors Clitheroe have won their last three games including a 4-3 win over Hanley Town in midweek, a victory which saw the Lancashire club propel themselves into the play off places so Albion face a tough examination as they continue their own rise up the table.

Off the field, Clitheroe have added to their backroom staff in midweek with two new appointments including former Widnes FC manager Dave Dempsey who joins as assistant manager.

Witton will need to continue their improved form if they are to take anything from another important game.

Brilliant performance from Witton today, we dominated the first half but could not find the net.

Clitheroe came out with intent early second half after we equalized, we should have won it. To me a clear hand ball to stop the ball going in but all in all a fantastic display from Witton well done boys. :+1:

A good point and as said could have been all 3. I thought we had the better of the match and certainly played the better football but Clitheroe were not a bad side.

The referee was frankly hopeless, getting many decisions wrong both ways and stopped the game constantly for very little. Considering we had Williams and Haywood on the bench and Barrow injured things are looking much better. My MOM Fogerty. UTA

A good point yesterday against a very experienced side, but you could see what it meant to them when they scored a well worked goal on 80 minutes.

We played good football which goes without saying and injury time was played camped out in their penalty box, and two frantic scrambles off the line saved Clitheroe from defeat.

I’ll be there on Tuesday night hoping to make it past Whitefield this time.
