Witton welcome Colne FC to the U Lock It Stadium in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture on Saturday afternoon.
The third of four successive home games and with the chance to climb closer to the play offs but, nothing is guaranteed in football you still have to produce the performance.
Three points from the previous two games is acceptable but it didn’t work out in the way that was expected.
Widnes came with nothing to lose and gave it a real go and fully deserved their victory on the day and that can happen if the performance is not of the standard required.
The result in midweek against Newcastle Town redressed matters and the performance earned the points although once again, we had to come from behind.
Colne will prove difficult opposition although they currently sit sixteenth in the table, and have managed only two wins on the road from fourteen league games so far - with six draws and six defeats.
The return fixture at Holt House earlier in the season saw the points shared in a 1-1 draw with leading scorer Joe Duckworth giving the Albion an early lead before Enock Lusiama’s equaliser before half time.
Witton then had to play a difficult final fifteen minutes following Prince Haywood’s dismissal for a second yellow card.
Former Colne players Prince Haywood, Kingsley Williams and Elliot Rokka will be hoping to get the better of their former employers, but the team will need to perform at their best in order to get the right result.
Witton have added to their squad in midweek with the signing of midfielder Oliver Putnam, who joins the club for a second spell and will certainly add competition for places as the season edges towards the latter stages.

Harry McGee’s sixth goal of the season settles it.
Seems to have been a poor game in terms of entertainment, but the important thing is it’s three more points to the Albion.
Andrew Simpson’s half time comments summed the game up.
Three vital points sees Witton remain in seventh place in the table - three points behind Mossley with a game in hand.
Bootle FC to come on Tuesday night.
A good day for the leaders Macclesfield FC as well with four of the chasing pack - Leek Town, Workington, Clitheroe & Mossley all losing.
Looking for positives - we kept a clean sheet and managed to find a way to win!
Credit due to the managment for being prepared to make changes to try to improve things, albeit with limited effect.
Not much in the way of entertainment though.
The referee was over officious; they closed us down well in midfield, but didn’t create much (one shot saved by Ollie and one headed over by Ben) and we didn’t have a shot on target except for the penalty.
At the end of the day a win’s a win!
Well it’s 3 points thats the biggest positive.
Somehow we have got to replace Hughes as the focal point of the attack to enable our 4 3 3 to work effectively, either in house a signing or a loan player, otherwise we will have struggles like today!
But we are close to the play offs and so much better than we hoped. UTA
Yes we got over the line, it was a difficult match against a solid Colne side, a win is a win.
I thought the ref was very relaxed when he allowed a Colne player to tie his boots for what seemed like a full five minutes, and they gave us a very comprehensive view of events.
