With Brian Pritchard scouting out Wembley in anticipation of a hopeful return of the Albion and Lee Neville on holiday a number of changes are made to the team.
Starting XI: J. Clegg; D. Adams, P. Booth, S. Rudd, N. Murphy; J. King, D. Neville, S. Hall, P. Doran; S. Foster, M. Moseley.
2 very poor teams, however congleton tried to win it a bit more, A Witton team short of Pritch , Maylett and Heler should still have done better but were are now playing short of confidence with little skill - we need a left winger centre midfielder and a striker just to compete at this level - very disappointing performance and result, if non of the players return for monday vs Leek we are in trouble
It isn;t fair that the supporters are putting in the time, effort and hard earned money and thats all we get back in return!
We embarrassed ourselves yesterday on and off the pitch. In the club Congleton came in looking really smart in their black tracksuits and our guys came in, in their own clothes, some looking really scruffy, and thats a lack of discipline. We just didn;t look professional at all. Even the Congleton fans commented on this!
Spot on Graham.
We all feel let down as supporters but those of you who actually hold this club together and “make it happen” must feel gutted.
The players should want to win every game but especially when there’s money at stake.
Everything comes down to finances and they’ve blown the best potential moneyspinner. Perhaps they should play for free next time.
We’re all out of pocket to some extent.
Whatever happened to being “Up For The Cup”?
I think Gary Finley owes us an explanation. what’s going wrong and what is he doing about the situation?
A rare posting by me at the moment but where can it all go wong in such a shirt space of time? Cast your minds back 1 week - a 1-0 defeat to the joint title favourites in a game we should have drawn if not won - I can accept that. follow it with a shocking defeat by Market Drayon then that. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?
It wasnt even treated like congletons cup final, they just turned up played very average, yet beat us comfortably.
GE just about sums up my feelings - why do we bother, I dont expect to win every game, and didnt critisise after the last 2 defeats but, I’m sure most will agree that was a whole other level yesterday.
One final point on the tracksuits etc - totally agree Yazza however the fact we havent got them is well out of the players control and we hope to have it rectified by this coming week. It does look unprofessional agreed but it doesnt make people better players and we know those palyers can do a lot better than that.
Fully agree with everything that has been said on the site
How the hell can I expect to get money off people to join our 200 club
After performances like that, there is no way I am going to get anywhere
near 200 members, and you can’t blame people when the team turns out
performances like that
Gary you have got to sort it out NOW not later
Every comment made about yesterdays game is very valid, it was the worst display of football I have seen in many years. To be honest it makes you question why we, as supporters bother, never mind the people who put all the work into running the club by giving up their spare time. The team turns out for a match and shows that they really dont give a damn for the club, no passion, no skill and no leadership. Total crap.
Difficult to pass direct comment as I have only managed to see one of our opening five competitive games. It sounds like the Rushall game that I did see is arguably our best performance from what I have read since. For GE and Neil to be compelled to post their dismay tells a story in itself!
Fair to say that defeat to Congleton in the FA Cup is shocking, at the very least we needed the benefit of a couple of rounds for the revenue that it would bring. With budgets already tight this only makes things tougher. To be out of the competition before the end of August is ridiculous.
After the Rushall game I was reasonably confident that we could compete at the top of the division from what I saw. So what’s gone wrong? Were we unlucky against Belper?
What’s clear is that the players need to learn pretty quickly that the only way they are going to get results is to work for them, turning up does not get you the points! You cannot excuse a lack of effort. As much as I think Booth is a very good centre half I don’t think he is vocal enough to be Captain (I’m not just saying this now I said it when he was chosen). I don’t think that Pritch plays any differently with our without the armband but he is a much stronger leader. Dave Neville, whilst still relatively young, may have been a better choice than Booth.
Monday is a big game now, Leek are undefeated and seem to be a threat in this league. We need to beat them to restore some confidence and get things back on track. Maybe we have just become a little complacent (although have no reason to be) and the impact of the last 3 defeats will shock us into a response.
I’m getting deja vu from last season and I don’t like it!
Well, after a couple of restless nightssleep - yes Witton still does that to me ! There is a danger We talk the team into continuing to be poor, So lets hope the bad performances were blips and that Gary can sort them out for today, this is big game in many ways so in my opinion the best thing we can do as supporters is not put them under any more negative pressure today and get behind them right from the off, hopefully at least a couple of the unavailable players will be back and make a difference,a bit of luck and it might alll change again so come on wittoners lets get behind the team after all we are not Vics fans are We.
