Witton Albion v. Congleton Town

Witton’s penultimate home game sees them take on Cheshire opposition for the third game in a row, when they welcome Congleton Town to the U Lock It Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears have shown an improvement in recent weeks and have suffered only one defeat in their last eight games, a 4-1 defeat at leaders Bury after leading with fifteen minutes to go.

They made a disappointing start to the campaign which was totally unexpected following an excellent debut season when they reached the play off final, losing to Hednesford Town.

Witton put in a strong second half performance on Easter Monday, beating Nantwich Town 4-0 after a fairly even first half, so will be looking to continue in that vain in order to pick up three more important points.

The Bears are looking to complete the double over the Albion following their 2-1 win at the Cleric Stadium earlier in the season.

Joe Edwards gave Witton the lead just after half time but a double from Bears striker Max McCarthy, the second coming deep into injury time secured the points in Town’s favour.

Three crucial points are on offer as Witton look to finish as high as they can, a top eight place will certainly be their aim but every point will need to be earned.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.
