Let slip 2 points today which we could well do with at the end of season. We missed chances and can’t keep relying on **** ****** to keep putting them away. Two players ****** ***** and ***** ****** were sorely missed too. The wide men today never really got into the game. Although bottom of the league Harrogate came out second half and played for some pride ( something we did not do at Skem when in a similar position ) and got a deserved point in the end.
To be honest we should have been out of sight after the first 20 mins. Hit the post, the bar, had a goal disallowed, scored and narrowly missed other chances. I think we definitely missed Stott up front, but the players that came in did everything that could be asked of them except add to the goal total. We are a bit inconsistent with periods of super play followed by mistakes, but that is what you would expect with a new team.
There continues to be lots of positives on and off the pitch with folks working incredibly hard to drive the club forward and the guest I brought to the game was quite impressed.
Think it was just one of those days to be honest, Harrogate in the 1st half couldn’t cope with the pass and movement and if it had been 6 at half time they could have had no complaints, as Eli rightly says they came out after 55 mins and gave it a real go and full credit to them.
The referee imo gave them a sympathy vote throughout, disallowed a perfectly good goal, didn’t produce cards early in the game (No.3) for a cynical foul, and inexplicably allowed the No.4 to remain on the field after a 2 footed lunge on Andy Kinsey (which if Kinsey hadn’t taken evasive action was a potential leg breaker) a little Karma then seeing the No.4 leave the field limping!
No rose tinted glasses but thought Pritch was unlucky to lose his place after a very assured performance and clean sheet on Wednesday.
Still in good shape but definitely 2 points dropped.
Up The Albs!
I agree there was a case for Pritch keeping his place, with maybe Kearney in at RB. The problem is that of the centrehalfs we now have, 1 is captain and 1 is on contract. With Pritch’s coaching role, he is going to be the one to miss out more often than not - even when performances should suggest otherwise.
I’m very pleased with the way Ben is developing though, and the way in which he has taken the club to heart. You can see that he is enjoying himself. I think his inexperience is still showing through, but he has that excellent recovery in his locker at the minute which is helping him to get through that. The odd mistake is to be expected, and if there are any major ones, then i’m sure Oggie will take him out of the firing line if needs be.
Apparently the general opinion amongst the players was that the ref was correct to rule Ben’s strike out. It had looked a good goal to me though too.
From where I was, directly in line, Ben took it cleanly but out of the hands of the keeper, so clearly a foul. Why is it when the gate goes up we play badly? It’s not just this season, it seems to happen over and over again. I suggest we stop announcing the gate until the game is over!!

a good performance, really enjoyed the game, but not the result. they should have been out of sight after 20 minutes, but thats football. things will only get better as this team develops, we really have a team in the making. it may not be this season, but probably next season we can start going places. let’ s hope we can keep this squad together for a while , if we do we are definately going to be on the up. very impressed with ben harrisons displays, he certainly will go far. not too soon i hope.
Ben Harrison has the potential to be a five figure transfer target for any club looking for a young and very talented centre half and I know from past experience that our club will not stand in his way should such an offer come along, well done Ben.
