MacPherson can prove point to PitmenNov 7 2007

FREESCORING Witton Albion and hat-trick star Adam Warlow have Hednesford Town in their sights at Wincham Park on Saturday.
It might be ruthless business as usual for Witton, but it will be more personal for midfielder Dave MacPherson.
Albion have scored 28 goals in the seven games since MacPherson’s arrival from Hednesford.
He has made a big impression at Albion, but at Hednesford he only played a dozen games or so and quit after rowing with manager Phil Starbuck.
He’ll want to show the Pitmen exactly what they are missing.
But manager Jim Vince said: ‘I don’t think it will be an especially big game for him, but it is a game we have got to win to cement ourselves into top spot.
‘Hednesford tried to kick us off the park last season, but have changed their style of play since and have some high quality players.’
Albion’s recent goal surge has not only coincided with MacPherson’s arrival, but with Warlow’s return to form. He had scored only twice in the first 14 games of the season and one of those was a penalty.
Now he has hit 11 in five games, including three hat-tricks.
‘He is a better player this season and we knew he would come good. He has struck a good partnership with Rod Thornley, too,’ said Vince.
Albion have no injury problems other than Alex Brown, still a fortnight away from full fitness.
The UniBond League will present Albion with the club-of-the-month award before kick off.
Witton’s reward for knocking Stocksbridge out of the FA Trophy is a third qualifying-round trip to Hucknall, who are bottom of the Blue Square North.
‘I don’t know if it’s a good draw or not. They have picked up lately, but there’s no reason why we shouldn’t progress,’ said Vince.
