Brian Pritchard returns to the starting line-up, whilst Stuart Rudd drops to the bench. Dylan Adams starts at right-back, whilst Carl Lamb is handed his home debut with Foster suspended, and Moseley absent.
Starting XI: J. Clegg; D. Adams, C. Ruffer, B. Pritchard, L. Neville; P. Heler, R. Broadhead, P. Henry, J. Tandy, B, Maylett; C. Lamb.
fairly facile win without really getting into top gear! Tap in by Roy Cropper following a good move and a super duper finish by Carl Lamb!
Ruffer and Booth both went off injured but nothing too bad (hopefully) four of ours booked goodnes knows why. No sign of Mcaliskey at all wonder if he’s moved on?
Thought we did ok, a few changes but all those that came in did well. Lamby or ‘minty’ as I think he should be christened was a handful upfront and took his goal very well. Put it a good strong performance and did especially well when picking up the ball on the left flank a couple of times.
Both full backs were guilty of a couple of potentially bad challenges that could have seen them receive further punishment with a different referee. Ironically the referee only booked players for completely innocuous incidents. How minty managed to get booked for jumping is beyond me.
Thought Pritch did well, another clean sheet which goes to prove his inclusion. There Cryuff turn in their penalty box was sublime, I think he tricked himself. With Ruffer and Booth picking up knocks the big man’s performance could be very timely. I’ve said it before and will say it again, as much as I like Rudd as a player he is still a striker playing at centre half (fine for cover but not a permanent position). Having to play Booth as sub in midfield shows we are light in that department.
Tandy and Maylett both should good spells and they will both need to have big games on Saturday to overcome Matlock.
Final mention should go to Peter Heler who is proving doubters, me included, wrong. His last few performances have been excellent and I thought his effort was excellent tonight. He looks to have found his form and confidence at the right time and is proving his worth. Great to see and happy to be proved wrong.
Nice tidy performance last night, like the look of Lamb (especially with new potatoes). Heler again impressive. Just hope that Ruffers injury is not too serious. I notice that Matlock had to play extra time last night so hopefully a few tired legs for them on Saturday… Also they had a Cropper score for them too!!! ‘there’s only one Roy Cropper’
A good strong performance never really troubled which is good v one of our promotion rivals, squad is looking much stronger, heard a rumour Macalisky has gone to Alty or at least had 7 days put in on him ? thought Lamb did look good very pacy and a great goal, one more central midfielder into the mix and think we will have enought to win this league if we can keep everyone happy ?
McAliskey has gone already! I was chatting to him in the club after the carlton game and thought id made him see just how great witton are! he even gave me an autograph which to be honest i didnt ask for  anyone out there wanna buy a john McAliskey signed team sheet?
Hope we recouped more than we paid for him. We had visitors last night so couldn’t make the game, but I have told everyone I know (all three of them) not to call on Saturday!!!
WHS.
Yorkshire I’d hang onto that Mcaliskey signature it could be worth a few bob in the future…“and Mcaliskey seals the world cup for England for the first time since 1966…some of the fans are on the pitch…they think it’s all over!”
