Great effort, thought we could have had another goal before half time and when we didn’t against that wind and rain it was always going to be difficult. Must have a chance on Tuesday if the weather is better, we were certainly the better footballing side. Glad to see we cannot play you know who if we do win.

Played well today, defo the better team, they didn’t come into it until the last 15 mins when the wind and rain really picked up, funny in the club after, they think they have have done enough now. Biggest turnout so far of away players, think Jeppo ran out of food at 30!!!

Classic ‘cup weather’ yesterday, difficult conditions for both sides to some extent it made it a ‘game of two halves’. Maylett’s goal was class, knocking the ball one way and running the other around the defender before curling it into the bottom corner.

Always felt we needed to get a second one before the break as Matlock were going to come out fighting and be aided by the conditions. We struggled to get the ball out of our own half at times in the second period, but a lot of that was to do with the weather.

The injuries they had to their players were unfortunate but neither were to do with challenges from our players. They were lucky that their keeper did not receive a card for carrying the ball outside the box, their was no contact from Lamb when he did it. The incident was either a foul by their keeper or by our attacker, the only decision that it was not was a drop ball! On the basis we had lost two defenders in our midweek cup game they can hardly use this as an argument in their favour.

They have been on a good run of late but we more than matched them. Over the 90 minutes Witton played the better football and if we could have hung on under the late pressure we would have got the win that the performance deserved. If we go to Matlock and play like that on Tuesday night we have every chance, the hope is that they feel they have done the hard work by taking it back to their ground for a replay.

Matlock are nothing special and the team we have this season is better than the one we had in the Prem last year. They could very easily have been the ones to come down last season there was little in it. We need to go there on Tuesday night and remind them of the fact!

missed a few games lately due to other commitments, including yesterday unfortunately. I have commented in previous posts that I was sure Gary new what he had to do and it looks like the team is coming together well. We have every chance next week at Matlock, we just have to keep going and one day we will have our rewards.

Spot on Rabbit.
We were the better team and given less influential weather I fancy us in the replay.

Spot on rabbit…thats unusual!!

Sorry Rabbit not an insult!! an attempt at humour regarding spotty rabbits!!

Weather forcast not that good, but this team can win in any weather with a bit of luck on their side. I have always felt we can win the league and I have not changed my mind. I also think we can win this replay and maybe win in the next round given a favourable home draw. Failing that, Luton, York or Chester home or away will do nicely!!
