Witton Albion v. Nantwich Town

The festive period brings the usual derby matches to the football calendar as Witton welcome Nantwich Town to the U Lock It Stadium in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

The Dabbers currently sit in fourth place in the table going into the game whilst Witton find themselves outside the relegation places after two successive wins.

The two managers will renew acquaintances for the first time in their current positions but were once team mates in a Nantwich team a few years ago.

The two teams met three times last season with Nantwich Town completing the league double over the Albion, winning 4-1 at the U Lock It Stadium and then by the only goal in the return fixture in January.

The third meeting in the Cheshire Senior Cup saw Witton prevail by the odd goal in three at Swansway Stadium courtesy of goals from Connor Hughes and Taylor Kennerley.

Witton have strengthened their squad in recent days with the addition of striker Nick Hepple from Mossley, a player who made his presence felt in Wythenshawe Town’s colours scoring in their 4-1 win.

Nantwich’s dangerman amongst others is leading scorer Kai Evans, who has netted eleven times so far this season including two hat-tricks.

A familiar face who could feature is former Albion striker Callum Saunders and he will be looking to make an impression on the game.

A tough test faces Ben Harrison’s team but they will be looking to continue their recent good form and they will need to if they are to pick up three more vital points.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.
