Weather and precautionary pitch inspection permitting, Witton look to extend their unbeaten league run to nine matches when they welcome Prescot Cables in a crucial Northern Premier League West Division fixture on Saturday afternoon.
Last Saturday’s postponement together with Cables victory has seen them climb above Witton in the table but, they have played a game more.
With the team now starting to produce results, the hard work of the management team and the players has paid off and propelled Albion into a position where they are able to challenge at the higher end of the table.
Prescot will be looking to complete the double over Jon Macken’s team following their 2-1 win at the Joseph Russell Stadium earlier in the season.
But they can expect to find a different Albion side now compared to the one who were still getting used to each other when the first meeting took place.
Prescot are unbeaten in their last four league games since they lost to Bootle on Boxing Day and have striker John Murphy in goalscoring form so, the Albion defence will be kept on their toes in what is a six-pointer.
The Cables squad is likely to feature a number of faces familiar to Albion fans notably James Foley and Kyle Sambor, they also have midfielders Josh Gregory and George Nugent who enjoyed brief spells at the U Lock It Stadium.
Two defeats in ten games in all competitions, has given Albion momentum and they will have to perform at their best if they are to continue that form in what will be a tough test.
Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.

Additional Information:
Not looking good weather wise!
Well the pitch is clear of snow, a bit hard in places due to frost but thawing.
I think we have a chance of it being on if we don’t have a severe frost overnight and the weather is similar to today.
Given it’s a local game, we can maybe give it till 12.30pm to inspect.
Let’s see what happens. UTA
Let me know if you need a hand in the morning with pitch
Magnificent work, let’s hope that common sense prevails with a later inspection.
It hasn’t been much of an issue so far, but I found it quite strange that the league didn’t ‘front load’ more league games into the first half of the season - especially for clubs out of FA competition at an early stage.
With only a handful of midweek fixtures so far, a few postponements could make things pretty hectic…
Protective covers are being placed on the pitch overnight.
There is a precautionary pitch inspection scheduled for 10am on Saturday morning.
UPDATE
A further pitch inspection will take place at 12pm.
Unfortunately the match has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.
A new date will be arranged in due course and details of the new date will be posted on here as soon as the information is available.
A completely blank day for the Northern Premier League West Division today.
Witton’s next scheduled game is away to Clitheroe next Saturday (weather permitting).
