Witton Albion v. Runcorn Linnets

Buoyed by an excellent result and performance at Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday, Witton will look to follow it up with another three points at home to Runcorn Linnets on Bank Holiday Monday.

Runcorn have started the season well after a productive pre season in which they have strengthened their squad, particularly with the signings of last season’s player of the season in Sean Miller and striker Scott Bakkor, a face well-known to Witton Albion supporters.

Witton received a boost prior to the Stalybridge game with the news that in-form striker Freddy Garbutt had agreed and signed a contract and he has already shown what he can do in his short time with the club.

Five goals in six games for a player so young, and playing at this level for the first time is quite an achievement and hopefully there is more to come.

Witton’s recent form against Runcorn has been excellent, winning four out of the last five meetings in all competitions and they will be hoping that continues in this game.

Albion completed the league double over their opponents last season, winning both games 4-0 at Runcorn and again at the U Lock It Stadium.

Runcorn go into the game in fourth place in the table and unbeaten in three league games, two wins and a draw so far.

Witton’s first league win of the season saw them climb to fourteenth in the league with the hope of progressing further with the Bank Holiday fixture.

A tough game is to be expected and Witton will need to show the same desire and commitment that they did at Stalybridge if they are to get anything from the game.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.

So which Albion are turning up! After the superb win at Stalybridge, we could really do with a win today but it will be tough as ever vs in-form Runcorn.

Team-wise I guess Ben won’t be fit after suffering what looked like a hamstring issue and hope we can keep Kerr!

So maybe Langley will be back in the back 5 with no other changes hopefully from Saturday.

So team maybe:

Terry
Baillie, Ebhote, Langley, Bembo-Leta Fleming
Kerr, Hamman
Brazel
Garbutt, Hoyle

Good look lads. UTA

Got no Kerr or Brazel according to the match day programme. They played well together on Saturday so that’s a loss.

I assume Max will come in and possibly Joe (can’t remember his last name).

Joe Edwards.
